Default How much does a c2 hard top weigh?

Last week put my hardtop on for the second time in 18 years. Back then it seemed easy to carry up the stairs. This time it seemed like it weighed a ton. Getting old sucks!!
Thanks
Craig

For me definitely a two person job. My guess is 40 pounds. Anyone know for sure?

I think the GM add weight for the hardtop is 49lbs. Back in 1966, when I had my '64 I could install and remove the top by myself. It took two of us to take the one off my '66 the other day. They have gotten a lot heavier in 56 years...

Well, that is mostly because you are likely being much more careful installing it to avoid scratching your paint.

I'm a little guy but I have (had?) the build of a regular kinda strong guy. I used to pick up my 455 block and put it in my other car's trunk. I used to take the all steel factory produced hood off my '70 GS455 tribute by myself. Just use a couple props I built to hold it, grab each side, and rotate horizontal over my head.

Today any of that would put me in the hospital. Not gonna lie.

Absolutely! I could take it off and put it on, without scratching the paint at all. Would not even consider trying it today.
