Find '67 427/435 coupe
Anybody got any thoughts on how to attempt to find a car we bought new but I unfortunately have no paperwork or VIN? The car was a '67 427/435 Coupe in Marina Blue with side pipes. It was purchased new from Wood Chevrolet in Birmingham, AL. It was sold in probably '69 to a couple from Mobile, AL. Wood Chevrolet is out of business, so getting sales records from them is impossible. I wonder how many '67 427/435's in Marina Blue were actually made? Thanks!

U can try joining Mobile, AL facebook page n ask on the page after joining.
Ask frequently n post a picture for attention.
It's a long-shot but try. It might take years.
Good luck.

Thank you! I wonder if it is possible to determine how many '67s were 1.) coupes in 2.) Marina Blue with 3.) black interior and 4.) 427/435??? That information might help me narrow things down.

(The codes below like L71 are called RPO numbers. L71 is the RPO for the 435 engine)
You can get a rough guess by just figuring out how many cars had the given options and multiplying it all together.
There were 22,940 total cars.
First, there were 8,504 coupes.
Next, 8504 X (3,840 Marina Blue / 22,940) = 1424 Marina Blue coupes (MBC).
Next, 1424 x (3,754 L71 / 22,940) = 233 MBC with L71.
I don't remember if interior numbers are listed anywhere.
Last, (N14) side pipes...
This one's more interesting because GM kept track of them by engine combinations.
Big blocks have their own number - 3109.
So, 233 x (3,109 N14 w/ BB / 9723 BBs) = 75 of your car.
The percent of total cars with N14 (18.3) compared to the percent of big blocks with N14 (32.0) shows how far off all this can be.
I can't imagine I typed all that without making a mistake but you get the idea and a rough number.

Thank you! I'm amazed to see the actual numbers ... I assume 75 cars with the color and options is pretty accurate. Of course my goal is to try to find it and see if it's for sale. If the dealer was still in business, that would be a start to find the VIN.

Well there are 9 on the c2 registry to start with based on information provided. Most have pictures. I did not check for side pipes but limited to STL Bodies as no AO bodies had side exhaust. Good luck with the search.
