$327,000 63 SWC on BaT
Not sure what the high for 63 SWCs is but this must have been up in the top few I would think. Someone wanted it a lot.

Yeah, and it was a $26K jump over the previous bid. Pretty rare to see that sort of knock-out bid in one of these, but it worked.
Lots of guys like to do cutesy bids at the beginning of the BAT auctions, like $1963, or something, but it's rare to see a cute bid at the end like this 327, 360hp bid.
I know the car is very nice, but I'm still stunned by the amount. I think I'll go in the garage and wax my $37K '64 now.

Anybody notice the selling price was shown as $327,360?

I guess if my '64 still had original frame and motor, I could get $327,250 for it?

After seeing the result of the auction, I immediately thought about the guy back in 1963 who couldn’t decide between the coupe or the convertible and the wife insisted on the convertible 😳

Corvette Mike has sold 2 1963 fuel coupes on BaT for >$320K this year. Both of those had CCAS certification on the pad. It surprises me how poor his BaT presentations are. How does a dealer not have pictures of the car on a lift? Or pictures showing the bonding strips and originality of the fiberglass? What about the birdcage?
My car is just a repaint away from being as good or better than either of the two he sold, and I would never pay near this much to have a 63 fuel coupe. Unless I didn't have one, in which case I would probably justify the price.
Wife and I are looking very hard at the 330GTC on BaT now, as that's the last bucket list car I have. She asked how I would drive a $600K car around Chicago, and I said "at least twice as carefully as the $300K split window we have already".

My friend has a fuelie SWC that has all the pedigrees. He was offered big money by a collector who had a parking spot he needed to fill. I guess if your Jeff Bezos, or equal, plus or minus a few $100k is pocket change. BTW, my friend turned down the offer.

I LOVE the look of the split window externally but HATE trying to see anything in the rear view mirror. I just amazes me how people will pay the prices they bring when 65 & 66 coupes are better engineered cars for WAY less money. The same thing goes for a 67 although the price gap between them and the 65-66 cars seems to have closed somewhat in the last few years.
