Well......16yr old decided he did not need to stop at the stop sign.
Been a while since I have made a post here. Last sunday night a 16yr old kid decided he did not need to stop at the stop sign and rear-ended my 67.
Things have been pretty nuts at work this week, so I have not been able to get it in for an estimate, but the rear frame cross member is bent up about 4 inches, the gas tank is bent, both bumpers are destroyed...........

early 2000s buick of some sort.
family is a pile of losers, (basically what the officer told me) so we'll see how this all goes. he did have insurance, but have no idea the details. officer said I needed to wait for the police report for those details. he was cited for driving to close.

Yeah. pretty frustrated. Kid could have cared less. I chewed his ***, but really was like talking to a brick wall.
I have NCM insurance and seems to be ok so far. Adjuster is definitely not the quickest, but I am not the most patient either. I found a relatively local body shop specializes in corvette repair, local corvette shop referred me to them and they have availability in the near future so I really want to get things moving along.

So sorry to hear and see that. I know how devoted we are to our cars. If it were mine, even though I love my car, I would lean towards totaling it….I’m not sure the headache of repair would be worth it.

Car has been in my wife's family since her dad was 18 and I rebuilt it back in 2006-2008, so there is a lot of sentimental value. My father-in-law has now passed, so I will definitely get it fixed, but I can definitely see the work involved.

Dang. That it is ugly but as said above, repairable. Glad your okay. Did he say anything about why he didn’t stop?
Disregard the question. You beat me to the answer.

For those of you that know body work, do you think this can be repaired with the body on, or do you think it needs to come off again?

Remove damaged fiberglas, fix frame, install new complete rear half of car with front of body still on the frame to act as a jig.
Body off frame means completely disassembling the car, including removing interior, head lights stuff, dash, etc, with the chance of additional damage done during that work, Ins isn't going to pay for a complete resto (they will total the car instead) and it's not necessary.

A little off the subject just a heads up, I was involved in a very similar accident when I was a passenger at 14 in a 63 split window, I was sick about my cousins car never thought much about anything else, all seemed fine. Many years later I started having some serious neck and back issues, found out through x-rays that I had a healed fracture in my neck that was causing and still causes issues for me. The doctor looked at the x-ray and said you broke your neck when you were probably in your early teens, I was shocked, to this day I have issues because of it.

As previously stated, I’d bet he was on his phone. Given that and his attitude, I’d love to find some way to initiate a civil action of some kind.

If the cops know the family are losers, you might not get much in a civil trial, but it’s worth a shot. At least you have good insurance that should hopefully fix your car.

That hurts to see something like that. Such a beautiful car. Hopefully it can be brought back to at least as good as it was. You weren't coming back from the big show in Appleton were you? I'm not very far from you, who did you find to do the repair?
