Ford Coyote engine in a Midyear
Ford Coyote engine is available in a crate for less than $10,000. They weigh 445 pounds and make 460 hp. They can be easily be modded to over 550 hp. This engine would get the C2 weight well under 3000 pounds. The TKX would be perfect as it is designed for high rpm’s. I don’t see any negatives save one. I have never seen or heard of this combo but it sounds like a great idea. I would change the covers to read LT6. I have seen one 65 that had the C4 ZR1 engine. Another great combo.
So what do you guys think?

As a 'car' lover who now owns a C2 and a Shelby Cobra replica. I will say the Coyote is a fantastic motor. But....
Unless you never plan to sell your car (like ever), its a bad idea. It will kill your resale value and severely limit your buyer pool. I see the same thing on the Cobra replica side where guys will put in a Chevy motor or even an automatic transmission.

C2 of Year Finalist (track prepared) 2019
After I read the first posting, my brain did a left turn.
All I could think was "Coyote -- ugly".

I thought "mixing the blue oval with the bowtie?" When hell freezes over maybe.....

If spinning 8,000 RPM plus to hit your horsepower goal is the mission you could always put good rods in your 327 and a big set of AFR heads in there and let it spin away.
No doubt the Coyote is a cutting edge engine but it belongs in a Ford.

Putting a Ford motor in a Chevrolet Corvette is just wrong on so many levels, especially with so many excellent choices from Chevrolet. Mark, have you been drinking that whiskey with the horse on the lid????

This whole idea must be from getting an early start on weekend drinking.

Right on Cape; this thread really has me questioning our choice of annual Carlisle trek buddies. I think Mark's membership in the C2 Sting Ray Registry group needs to be re-evaluated. But I don't blame it on his choice of whiskey. I drink that too, and such a notion as his has never taken hold in my noggin... It has to be something hallucinogenic he's been experimenting with....

Hell, Bill Harrah put a Ferrari V12 in a Jeep Wagoneer (Jerrari) so anything is possible - but just because you can doesn’t mean you should !

Hey, anything done to a Mid year can be un done,
I would not personally do it, but I bet it would sound cool with sidepipes and nobody else can say they have one or owned one

upgrading an oval with a bowtie motor is one thing. Defiling a bowtie the other way around is a whole different matter. It pains to contemplate it.

Well, people have been putting SB Chevy engines in street rods for decades mainly because the engine and aftermarket supply chain was so cheap and strong. It has been a pet peeve of myself and many others about this since it began. If I have an old Dodge street rod for example I want a Mopar engine in it. However, it doesn’t seem to bother the bulk of the street rod crowd to use a SB Chevy in ANYTHING.
OTOH, to do this with a Corvette will get a LOT of back push I expect. I know I would not do it. I learned a loooong time ago that the guys that have to have the latest, greatest of ANYTHING are fooling themselves. It does not take long for the guy at the top of the list to get bumped off by someone or something else. I love powerful engines as much as the next guy but I have never chased the elusive #1 spot for the above stated reason. Stick with Chevy power in your Corvette and you will be happy in the long run.
