Would you buy a C2 Corvette with an automatic?
I recall someone doing a survey within the last couple of years on whether members would consider buying a C2 Corvette with an automatic transmission. I would like to find that survey and its results but haven't been able to nail it down through the search process either on here or through Google. Can anyone steer me to that survey because it doesn't take me there automatically....

Normally I would not consider a PG car or a coupe, but when this 67 full power and air coupe became available at an affordable price I just couldn't resist. Being used as a driver it didn't take long before the PG became very annoying. I installed a 4 speed automatic and fuel injection and absolutely love the car. This is my 5th C2 in 55 years and now I wonder why I didn't get a coupe sooner.
I never pictured myself in an automatic coupe.

2023 Restomod of the Year finalist
Yup, sure thing! A C2 Resto-Mod with " All updated systems" like one of 'Not Rob Red" Corvette Resto-Mod's that he builds or a C8 would purchase an automatic transmission.
The prices for manuals might be higher for now, given time, this price drop will flip against manual transmissions. Especially, since the next generation of Resto-Mods will be 100% electric sport cars driven by batteries. It's happening already in California & in Europe.

Don't know about anyone else, but before I bought my '64 327/365 (4spd) roadster, I would have taken an auto if the price was right. They seem 10-20k under a manual trans car.

As long as I have no physical limitations I'll have my vintage Corvette with a fossil fuel burning engine and a manual transmission regardless of what's trending.

2022 C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified
The car is my daily driver and rush hour traffic is no big deal. Wouldn’t be without the automatic.

Polo91, I think I recall your car being up for sale on FB back a few months ago. The saddle interior struck me. Was that the same one? Looks good.

Guys, my intent in digging up this survey was not to start the old conversation over again, but the responses have been interesting. Thanks to those who dug up the survey results for me. Although I have had several manual shift cars, at almost 68 years old now I am into cruising and enjoying the drive and don't feel the least bit "girly man".
My real reason for bringing this information to light again is because I have been watching both the interest and price of automatic C2's increase significantly over the last year or so. Granted, all C2's have gone up in price so yes floodwaters do raise all boats, but the prices on "quality" automatic cars in my opinion don't seem to warrant the "redheaded stepchild" status among the Corvette world anymore. In my search for my forever car, I have watched highly optioned, quality coupes with automatics selling for well over $85K and higher. I have missed out on four different ones because I was too late to the party and I had called on day two of the ad being posted. I am currently selling a highly optioned '66 Nassau coupe with a ZZ4 and automatic and at last count I have six potential buyers waiting for a call from me letting me know that it is their turn to come see it or that it is sold.
The market is crazy on these cars in many ways, and I think the manual versus automatic discussion is certainly a personal one, but the survey certainly sheds light on what I am seeing in the market.

I would take an automatic if it was a fully loaded car - all power/assist accessories. But I would probably invest in substituting in the 4-speed auto swap.
I should add I have two other high hp cars with 4-speeds as well as a ps, Pb, auto, factory ac GTX (sometimes called the bankers hot rod) so I’m not looking to give up the clutch pedal.

I have never understood a couple of things when it comes to MidYears, first is why so much is made over a piece of fiberglass between the rear window, yes I know first and only year to have poor design element, oh I’m sorry , iconic design element. First year only parts that were inferior to the ensuing years. And why do many consider any of the MidYears red headed step children. Other than superficial changes these cars are very much alike and none of them should be considered a red headed step child, now as far as an automatic goes, I would have to pass in favor of a 4 speed.

There is an advantage to an original PG car. Most weren't beat to hell and usually retain their born with engine plus don't have the usual blown u joint hole in the jack stowage area. If looking for a correct unadulterated car. These would be them. Other than that ,I'll stick with my manual trans cars . Something about holding a gear ,
