Selling on EBAY: Fixed price or auction
Looking to sell my '65. For people who used Ebay, is fixed price method or auction more productive? Thanks

You should consider Bring A Trailer. They have quite a good following and C2s have been going for some pretty good prices. I used to follow EBay and now I dont much. I always watch BAT though. So for the likely buyer I think you might get better exposure on BAT.

Before you list on EBay I suggest researching what your fees for a sale are. And good luck doing so - I tried to find out without success. Best I could get was - it depends.

I am not recommending this, but I have seen this from time to time. ... I have seen rare cars listed for auction on Ebay with unstated and very, very high reserve prices. Somewhere in the ad is a way to contact the seller directly outside of Ebay. The seller has no intention of paying Ebay a commission. He just wants free advertising and to hear from people who might buy directly from him after the auction closes without a sale. ... I avoided one person who did this because I figured that if he was willing to rip off Ebay, he'd likely do the same to me if given the chance.

BaT all the way. I have sold several cars on eBay and I usually start with a fair to low price with the reserve set at what I would accept as a minimum. Always sold that way. However, I sold a car on BaT a couple years ago and it was a much more satisfying experience and a lot of fun!

List it here on the forum first and see if any bites. How about a couple pictures, motor, etc.

If you list it on eBay you can have an unpublished reserve. I have bid on items with a buy it now price. Once a certain bid is placed the buy it now option disappears and it's just a straight auction from that point. I've had to bid more than the buy it now in some instances.

Don't list it elsewhere if you plan on using BAT.

If you list it on Ebay (or other sites), I would find a way to watermark your photos because they will be hijacked and used by others. I sold a 41 ****** coupe 4 years ago and still get calls today, because the photos and information continue to be posted on multiple sites. I only listed the car on Ebay...

Bat has a $100.00 listing fee for the seller and a 5% buyers fee with a max of $5000.00
eBay typically has a 50-100 dollar listing fee with no other fees to the seller.

Ebay has made it more complicated to handle payments now that they are phasing out PayPal. Read the instructions.
Also, a good portion of ebay sales are still in fact after the close of the auction, offline.
BAT is popular now, but you have to let them write your ad they way they want it, and you have to agree with their reserves as well.
And unlike the forum, Interference in a sales thread is not prohibited.

BAT thinks they have writers like Hemingway, and they are more like typical used Toyota supermarket ads. Did you know C2 Corvettes "send" the power to the rear wheels with 4-speeds?
We sold our Jaguar using Hemmings. Wouldn't use the auction - we put a price in with the regular picture ad feature. They tell you how many times it's looked at and you can post decent pictures. We had good response nationwide at a price point that would be on the high side for a C2 , matching numbers car.
Only disadvantage, which may be a major issue, is it takes a while. E-Bay and BAT are kind of wizz-bang with short intense exposure.
Side note. BAT refused our Jag because it once had a mouse motor and was drag raced. It didn't have "Royal Family" type pedigree.
Our car was given "pride of place" (next to a Ford GT) at a big cars and coffee where the ushers routed us to the front row - obviously I think BAT has full britches at times,
