Default C2 (64) Expansion Tank Dented

Anyone with a suggestion on removing, or improving the looks of these dents? Someone over tightened.

I don't think that's from over tightening. That looks like something hit it.

It would be difficult to get it perfect. Aside from one of those tack stud guns and a slide hammer (and someone to hold it while you work the slide hammer) I cant think of anything else. Maybe take it to a custom motorcycle shop? They may have a suggestion.

Looks like someone has already tried to fix that nipple. What does a new one cost?

DeWitts makes reproductions with the correct date codes.

Factoid is on the beam here.
You can save the time ,trouble and money by going to DeWitts and they offer date codes and the bottom hose fitting tig welded from the inside.

You might try putting an M80 firecracker in and run. I've seen it done. It works!
Also be sure to put a heavy blanket over the tank so that when it jumps it doesn't re-dent itself.

Once it is installed you will not see much of the tank.

I think that is my plan. Inside is just inaccessible.

If you try the M80 trick you might end up with a burp tank shaped like a watermelon.

How about fill with water and put it in the freezer?

Interesting thought Tom. The way this restoration has been fighting me lately, I’m going to leave as is alone. I may come back when things are going better.

I like this idea! You would need to find a way to cap/seal that overflow tube, but a great idea if you could solve that bit.

You could also call a paintless dent repair service. They might be able to get the dent out.
