The world just became a poorer place. I couldn't even begin to guess how many will be deeply saddened to hear this news. +1 here.
John always seemed to make it look easy to be a good human. May he rest in peace.
Live well,
SJW

I knew this bad news was coming but it still brings a tear to my eyes. This is a man that cannot be replaced on this forum. His information was straight from the horse, always accurate and his help was always spot on. He was so generous to share his time and experience with all of us. Such a kind man and such a class act.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family, I hope they can read some of our forum notes so they can know how much respect we hold for this great man.
So very sorry to read this note today. RIP John and Thank You for all your efforts to help us move forward correctly.
I am sure many of you like me would read through a Post where someone had a difficult problem and several answers would be offered by others and I would sit back and watch to see if John would come in and offer the final word of advice knowing that it would be the correct answer. Other answers were not correct unless blessed by John's experience, at least the way I always saw it. John will be forever missed.

Wow, very sad news. R.I.P John, and thank you for everything you did for our hobby.
John had so much unique knowledge of the Corvette and Camaro. He'd probably forgotten more than most folks ever know over their lifetime.

John was a class act and a very knowledgeable guy. Not just Corvettes, Z28 Camaro's and of course the Viper.
I met John through the Vetteheads at Corvettes of Carlisle. He had a great personality and told interesting stories regarding his career(s) with GM and Chrysler.
He will be sorely missed on this Forum.
RIP John.
Here is a pic from Carlisle 2005 with another recently passed icon of the Corvette world Mike McCowen (dark tank top).

John was The Godfather of this forum and will be terribly missed by all. I always appreciated his direct, no-nonsense responses to all posts, with no sarcasm. Prayers going out to his family. RIP, John.

Not all that many people are irreplaceable, but John sure is. He was a walking encyclopedia of Corvette knowledge and lore. Rest in Peace, Friend.

I was thinking about him the other day when his namesake was in the news. He was a great contributor to the board. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many. Anyone doing a brick yet at the Museum? I only met him a couple of times first time at the Inagural judges retreat, also help full in person.

John was top notch in sharing his experience and wisdom. It was always enjoyable and enlightening reading of his experiences from his early days with GM.
Been there, done that, John covered all bases with his knowledge of things automotive. Well deserved status of icon. Always kind and respectful in his way of responding to others over the years on the Corvette forum. John’s sign off at the end of a reply, adding a signature flourish……..his <>, will be missed.
All the best to family. .. RIP

RIP John Z.
The term, irreplaceable is thrown around too loosely -- but, in John's case, irreplaceable is an understatement.
Thanks for all the helpful advice.
Thanks for selling me the original cigarette lighter insert for my 67 shortly before my NCRS judging way back in 2002.

What a great loss, John was a class act and so helpful. I had the great fortune of meeting him at his home in Michigan to pick up a 57 270 hp motor that he had removed from his 57. He was a great help to me personally with various bits of information, paint codes, etc. for 56 and 57 Corvettes. Also thanks to John for his service to our Country flying Hueys. He lived life in the fast lane, and will be missed.
RIP John.

When guys like John go the thing to do is keep in mind what was most important to him. And that was doing things right - being in possession of facts and using them to enhance ones experience with an antique Corvette. John stood opposed to perpetuated conventional wisdom and was instructive and constructive in his lessons and criticism. His being here kept many of our self-anointed know-it-alls on their toes. John was to my knowledge one for whom it could fairly be said...he knew it all.

I only knew John through his knowledgeable posts on this forum. Liked hearing about his days with GM and the photos he shared. Condolences to his family R.I.P.
