Default Finally, I am a C2 Coupe Owner

This weekend pulled the trigger finally. Many sold before I could get to them, many out my price range. Many just not right.

Saturday, picked up 66 Coupe, matching number L-79 327/350hp, 4 speed (M21), 3.70 rear. with factory AC

Body is all original no hit/ cracks/ all bonding strips visible. Was repainted horribly in 72 & is peeling & flacking all over. Interior is very nice, STD, 2 cracks in driver bottom seat, faded carpet. But dash & everything else pretty good. Spot on each arm rest on door panels.

Owner had it for 42 years (3rd owner). 107K miles. In 2013 the engine was rebuilt (stamp pad untouched) new clutch and throw-out bearing, water pump, voltage regulator, shock absorbers, Dwitts radiator, reproduction radiator fan and clutch, gas tank and sending unit, Rebuilt alternator, starter, headlight motors, and carburetor. Brake system was completely rebuilt calipers, lines, & master.

Originally Nassa Blue, black STD interior.

few pics. Excited to start restoring, & making it better. Speedo works. Starts good, drives good. Tach does not work (cable & gauge does) & most gauges don't work so that's first project. Excited. Plan is for nice driver, newer wheels, Side pipes, good paint, restore what needs to be addressed bushings and rubber, Fix AC so blows cold ect. Never had a Old car before, all my experience is with LS stull and C5-C6-C7s. So looking forward to learning and working on the Classic years and how that all worked with my Dad. Car is a project for the both of us, He rode with me to pick it up 12 hours away, great weekend.

ot.

Can see paint peeling

Fantastic motor, and AC TO BOOT!
Nice job. Looks like original carpeting. Keep it. I've said many times on this forum and others, NOTHING BEATS A COUPE.
Enjoy

Great car. You will not regret getting it. That 12 hour drive with your dad is what you will remember about this. You are one lucky guy.
Enjoy!

You would keep the original carpet? One of the easy things to replace and make the whole inside look better. I don't plan to try and make this some Show only, judged car, nice looking running fun example in my stable is the plan. so new carpet seems normal happy to hear thoughts.

That's a nice find as it seems like it checked off many of the wants. I like your plan as that sounds like it's going to make for a great driver. After all these cars were meant to be enjoyed. There's nothing not enjoyable about a blue coupe with a 327/350, 4 speed, with A/C. The new wheels/tires and side pipes will make it your own. Good luck going forward.

Congrats on the new acquisition. Looks like a late 66 build because of the seatbelts. I have the same combination of L-79 and a 3:70 rear with an M-21 in my 68.. It is an all around good combination for street and highway driving. Good luck with it. Jerry

I don't even go to car shows. And Mod anything I own, even brand new C7, taken apart, warrenty gone for a cam swap. ha. So while I don't want to ruin the car I also don't want a Stock looking one either. But some nice side pipes, 17 or 18 wheels, and nice paint, lowered some, and all working things and slowling work my way through bushings and issues and have a fun 66 coupe/ dream car in the garage to play with and keep.. Hell it may get a big block at some point too, but will not get rid of the matching number motor. would keep it on stand rebuilt and clean. who knows. leaning more to keeping it small block just all kinds of thoughts.

Story behind the Yamaha flag, or all the flags, I just have always used flags in my garages. my house garage has Pink Floyd, zeppelin, Budwiser, Billy Bowlegs, ect flags. So when I built this new 25X40x12 garage I have got some flags up for things I have or do own. Yamaha (build jet ski Turbo swapped SVHO ha runs in the 90s haha), Duramax,, C5, C6 and C7 flags, and a new C2 flag I ordered yesterday ha! LSX, and GMC flags as well. just kinda something at the top of the 12 foot walls.

yea man SHO in a GPR is a fun one! I has a SHO FZ for a few years, and then was wanting to go turbo, so found a 2016 white on black FZ, and had it running 91 on stock wheel... turbo this year.

Yeah....turbos are fun to run! Don't know if you spend much time on Greenhulk but my handle is the same on that site as well.

Again, congrats on a cool car.

Congratulations on finding a nicely optioned coupe. How about some under hood pictures?

It does look like a “late” coupe due to the style of the seatbelt buckle. Just and FYI , factory shoulder belt anchors were factory installed towards the end of the year.

Love the looks of a coupe (we also have a 66 coupe with air.)
