Default Accelerator rod hitting air cleaner base

I recently purchased a 66 with a replacement small block. It has a Holley carb and Eldebrock censuses intake. Engine runs fine but it doesn’t feel like power output at WOT is what it should be. I noticed today the accelerator rod is hitting bottom of air cleaner and preventing linkage from opening all the way. You can see where the base is rubbing the rod in first pic. I have seen suggestions to use a spacer to gain clearance. Anyone have success using them? I have no idea if this is correct setup so maybe I need a different rod?

Yes, it's upside down.
Should also go pointed inward.

Your rod seems to be entering from the wrong side...so to speak. Easy fix though!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll flip it around and take it for a spin as soon as this weather clears up.

Darn spell check. Just noticed it’s a C3BX intake

And another one, from my 64. I know I have the wrong thermostat housing on it, but the carb linkage is correct.

BTW, the 350/365 for 1965 used a different accelerator linkage than the 250/300 h.p. engines. Don’t know about 1966 but worth checking.

Flipped it around. Took about 2 minutes. Here is an after pic. Can’t wait to take it for a test drive as soon as the weather clears.

Much better.
Now have someone help you make sure it’s adjusted correctly to get wide open throttle.
