Which tires for ride
I'm looking at buying a new set of tires and mounting them on real knock-off Wheels. What's going to give me the best ride and steering? Do I use the antique Coker Tires or would a performance radial feel better?

Since your going with 15 in. rims the market place has less and less choices. You have Cooper, BF Goodrich, Hankook, and i'm sure theres a few more. There has been many threads about ride quality tires. My self l have been using BF radial TA,s for 10 years now and haven't given me many problems.I just put the car away and logged 4690 miles on the tires. Elio

Just put a set of Hankooks on my ‘66 L79 last month based on FtF’s recommendation as well as others. Got a few hundred miles on them and so far I like them.

Have about 1300 miles on a set of Hankooks since they went on in August. Very smooth ride and quiet. Don't likes any vibration so we had them "road force balanced". Running them right around 30-32 psi. Would buy them again.

I have Toyo Goldlines from DB tires,
you don’t have to buy from DB you can get Toyo’s anywhere , Hankook as well , they both will give a great ride as well as handling.

I think that might be the way to go. I was looking at the Uniroyal Tigerpaw and then read all the bad reviews on the whitewall problems.

Thumbs up for the Hankooks. Although you need to stay on top of the white sidewall, they apparently don't turn brown as fast as some of the others. The ride is excellent and the price is very good as well. They would be a good choice. These are Hankooks in my avatar.

Recommend:Stock sizeP205/75/R15
Prefer American made tires over those made in China or elsewhere. The closer the gaps in the tires the quieter they will be on the road. Also, the stock P205 are a lot quieter. The wider tires have more rubber on the road and the louder the tire will become.
If you are thinking about black wall tires, I would recommend American Made tires on a Classic American Made Corvette such as Michelin, Cooper, General, GoodYear, BF Goodrich and FireStone.

BTW, Michelin is a French company, which also owns BF Goodrich!

I went with BF Goodrich gold lines on bolt on knock offs....they are sold by Coker, but purchased through Discount Tire (they match prices). Just fine by me! Standard 205 75 R15. Oh....and don't forget your DeWitt's Rad!!!

I'm sort a fan of Mickey Thompson S/Ts (same as Copper Cobras except supposedly little different rubber compound) and Hankooks I recently put on my Corvette. If interested in a white wall and 75 aspect then Hankooks Optima would be hard to beat. I put Hankook Kinergy S/Ts on my car which are blackwall. Research them - they are highly rated.

My existing tires are the normal 205/75R15, which are about 27.1". The passenger side A-arm is shimmed heavy to push the wheel to the rear of of the car and the tire touches the inner wheel wheel on hard turns. So I am looking at 205/70R15 at 26.3" Goodyear Assurance all season touring have a high rating and quiet ride.
Revised : I original said 27.5 are actually 27.1"
and 26.2 is 26.3"

Burning Brakes
Just put a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws (215/70 R15) on my stock '67 wheels on Saturday. I talked to Discount Tire about the browning problem on the whitewalls and they said they THOUGHT Uniroyal had changed the process or formulation to minimize the issue but that they would stand behind them if there was an issue. They said they sell quite a few for "older" rides like ours and had had very few comebacks so I have my fingers crossed. I had Michelin Symmetry's on there before but at 10 years (and only 15,000 miles!) I figured it wasn't worth taking a chance so it has new rubber all around. I will say the Tiger Paws look nice on there and are smooth and quiet for now!
