Default clutch pedal vibration

Hi, my clutch pedal chatters-vibrates but if I lift the pedal with my foot it stops rattling. Is there supposed to be some kind of spring to stop that?
I did replace the bushings last week and the break and clutch pedals do not have slop as before but the clutch still rattles.1963 vert.

The return spring on the clutch rod that hooks to the firewall should hold the clutch pedal against the rubber bump stop under the dash. There is also a rubber bump stop for the brake pedal under the dash that the master cylinder spring and the pedal spring (wound around the shaft) keep the brake pedal from rattling.

Lift the hood and put your finger on the clutch Z bar it should also be chattering. There should be two springs attached to Z bar. One from clutch fork to the bar, the other from bar to firewall. If they are present and under tension, then the only thing that can cause this is issues with the pressure plate/throw out bearing.

Thanks for this, do you know where I can get a picture of these springs in place. That way I can see how they are supposed to look, thanks

I don’t have a picture in my phone but on your 63 there is one spring between your Z bar and the firewall. And one spring between the Z bar and your throw out Fork. They change then 64 with two springs on the Z bar to the throwout fork.

There is a hole in the z bar and one on the end of the clutch fork. One spring travels alongside of the ball rod that pushes on the clutch fork and keeps the z bar and clutch fork in contact with each other.
The other uses a small hook on the firewall and hooks into the other end of the Z bar, and keeps pressure on the rod going to the clutch pedal. You are likely missing number 22

Are you missing the upper rod return spring? If so you need to check to make sure the little steel finger clip is bolted to the firewall on one of the steering column plate bolts. That's where the spring is fastened. It's in that list posted by 65 Pro Vette above. At least I assume 63s used the same clip - not sure as they used a lot of one-year only parts.
