Default BB Block stamping help weird#

need some assistance with my block de-code that is stamped by the water pump housing, It looks like it is stamped from left to right as 26lcf 332029. the books that I have don't list this, it is suppose to be a 396 Motor

Thanks!

Mark, any chance you can post up a pic of that stamped area of your Bigblock? And, if you can, try to also get a pic of the raised casting numbers and date code on the rear bellhousing flange.
That CF wouldn't possibly be a 'CE', would it?

not having any luck posting a picture for some reason, the casting number is 3855961. is the front "stamping" just to verify if it is a numbers matching to the VIN?

thanks, I'll work on posting a pic

Sounds like it might have been decked, and that is the rebuilders code.

The block was decked with a mill, not with a broach.

Mark - I'm pretty sure the original 4-bolt Corvette 396's had a raised casting number of 3855962. I looked up your casting number, 3855961 and it's listed for 65-66 396's and happens to also be the casting number for a 66 427, 2-bolt.
