'63 Shifter Boot Issue
The new shifter boot I installed a when I reassembled my interior a few months ago has split where the shifter comes through. This was a stock replacement boot from either Corvette America or L I Corvette, I can't remember which and I'm not sure who's product they sell.
The boot seemed like a good pliable (rubber?) material and it conformed nicely to the Hurst shifter that is in the car without much stretching involved. (Shifter was in the car when I got it).
Is this something anyone has run into before? Is there a '63 boot made for this application?
Thanks for any help

Melting Slicks
Mine did the same thing on a C1 after two weeks of driving. I’m thinking about making a leather boot for it. There is a lot of heat that comes through the shifter spot. The rubber is really soft and looks like it would last a long time but it’s obviously not up for any type of use.

I had the same problem and, following MarkC’s lead, I made a leather boot. Here’s the post I made about it:

thanks for the responses..........
good looking leather boot.
Here's a picture of the split on mine. I went out one day a week or 2 ago and it looked like it just "popped" . I put a zip tie around it for the time being to try and keep the split from creeping.

Yeah, that’s not where my rubber boot was failing. Mine was splitting at the bottom of the boot. Caused by heat I’m thinking.
