Default 65 Telescoping Column

Any ideas on a replacement wire protector for a telescoping column, 65 version. No one seems to list as repro. Not sure why a standard would not work, but not listed as such.

It would work. The tele column wire protector is longer. It does not have a hole in the lower end like the standard protector. Standard column uses a push in fastener to attach the harness to the mast jacket. The telescopic version has some cloth tape to secure the harness to the protector at the lower end. It is not attached to the column.

Pop, I was looking for one of these a few months back and saw Long Island had them listed on their web site but later found out they had sold the last one. I could not find them anywhere else so I took a hair dryer and was able to straighten out my old one enough to where it was straight enough to reuse.

Not sure if you're missing yours or if you could do the same.

Good luck.

Sure wish I had one of those protectors. Enough is missing that the wire bulges out. Not salvageable.

It must slide through that slot in the bezel shown in the picture above. In my non-telescoping unit I just restored, it doesn’t slip easily as there is not much clearance. Tube will need to be rectangular as the wires almost fill the slot with no cover. Wires must lay flat, side by side. Round would be a no-go. Will use your thought though if nothing original can be found.

I may have them.. Corvette Steering made them for LICS, when I bought the steering stock 10 years ago I got some of the black plastic sleeves
