Dreams do come true! I'm proof of it!
Wow, where do I begin! Let me begin with saying thanks to my BEST friend & WIFE, this forum, and vettefinders because that is where this all begins, but most importantly I want to send a big shout-out THANK YOU to member "mattba" - in Golden
I've been a member here on/off since 2006. I've owned 2-C3's, 3-C4's, 1-C5 Z06, 1-C6 Z06. I've always wanted a '66 C2, but always fell short in the funds to afford one over the years, and I wasn't going to take out a loan to do it. So I concentrated my efforts on other more affordable quality cars over a period of time, but as time went by my savings increased with more saving or selling this or that to add to it, etc. There have been other Corvette's I've lusted after and wanted, but it came down to this '66 in the end. Without getting into details, and following the inspection, all the dots connected and the deal was closed, and the '66 was finally mine. Matt in Golden does an outstanding job behind the scenes answering questions, sending photos and transparent with information regarding what he sells; very appreciative of that, so thanks again, Matt.
August 1, 2019 I was in a very bad motocross accident; I was in Flagstaff, AZ out in the middle of nowhere with some friends, and hit a lava-rock boulder at over 50 mph on a YZ250. Upon impact I was launched 40-45 YARDS forward and landed on rocks. Needless to say I broke A LOT of bones and suffered (still am) nerve damage all over. Yes, I had gear on. I spent 4-months in various hospitals and in-patient physical therapy centers healing and working towards getting back to myself. Its been pure hell, but all thanks to GOD, my family and friends for being supportive. The doctors said I wouldn't be walking until 3-4 months after the accident. They didn't know me; I was walking 7-weeks later (assisted with a walker of course)! Anyway, I've been doing physical & occupational therapy since I got weight-bearing. I'm alive and on a great path to recovery. The purchase of this car is icing on the cake after coming back from all that, AND DRUG-FREE!! Lots of dark periods over the past 11 months let me tell you, but ONLY NICE SUNNY ONES AHEAD! I cannot wait until it arrives to my driveway! Thanks again, Matt in Golden, and corvetteforum - you've helped make my dream come true!

66WES, wow, that was quite a serious incident. As a former EMT I can picture things. Very glad you are making a strong comeback, physically and mentally. Now the rest of the recovery will be saturated with smiles when that beautiful '66 arrives. Keep the pics coming. Dennis

Congrats on the new 66. What part of Phoenix are you in? We have a great group of car lovers over in Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. After this damn China virus goes away, we will be back doing our car functions on Saturday and Sunday. Come join us!!

Your crash story gave me chills. Never had a crash anywhere near that hard. Miracle you're alive. Yes, thank God. Beautiful car and take care of that wonderful wife. Enjoy cruising together. Can't do that on a dirt bike. Blessings

My days of racing motocross ended similarly but not nearly as bad. Hit a boulder at speed and was launched forward, landed badly and broke my neck too. Six months before I could turn my head and in the meantime I met the most wonderful woman and never looked back at dirt bikes. It's been 41 years now and I couldn't be happier. Oh, and I bought my 65 about six months before the accident.

Sorry to hear of your accident and congratulations on your recovery. Character can get you a lot farther, faster than the MDs imagine! Congrats also on getting past the pain drugs; those things are pretty nasty once you get past needing them. From the looks of your new Sting Ray, a great part of your life has just started!
