Default Teakwood Steering Wheel

Wow, when did these become so valuable. I was thinking they were still in the $1,200 price range. FYI saw this on CL this morning.
not mine, I have zero connection. Just curious if this is really the street price on an original wheel. Mark

I built my own using the "go by" directions one of the forum members posted online some while back. Turned out rather nicely, I bought the teak online on ebay, the rosewood inlay from one of the guitar builders online as well. Turned out to my satisfaction . . . .. .

Damn, that's a lot of money. While it may have been removed and well-stored for 40 years, it sure as heck has a big gouge at around 8 o'clock.

I still want one, though, just not for that much cash.

It must be the original horn button and mounting hardware.

I sold an extra one I had right here on CF last year for $1100.
It was in nice condition and I felt that at that price it was fair market value.
$3500? never gonna happen.

I bought a legit nos wheel for $3K about 15yrs ago. It was so legit that it was still in the unopened GM box. Before I paid the man He allowed me to open the box and check it out. It was like looking at a piece of jewelry. It was absolutely perfect and it still is. I would not sell it for $3500. Looking at the one listed here has a long way to go to being close to my wheel. As pointed out that gouge at about 8 o'clock looks bad. I would like to see if it is a real one or not no matter the price. No way to tell from the pictures in the ad.

I remember selling the one that came with my 67 in about 1992 for $400, thinking that I had sold at the top of the market and they simply could not go any higher. Times certainly do change.

when I finished my Chevelle around 2009-2010 I had the idea of buying one. saw a few at Carlisle swap meets for around 500 bucks. I could not see spending that much on a steering wheel. ten years later they doubled in price

Lou - not sure I understand, 67s came with a plastic steering wheel as OE. Are you saying someone had put a teak wheel on it before you bought it? The plastic wheel from my 67 is in a box - I replaced it with an aftermarket Grant #930 real wood wheel.
