Default Its not a VETTE!!!!

I've owned a Corvette at one time or another for 47 years and have "NEVER, EVER" referred to it as a 'vette". I know it may sound petty with our worldwide concerns but it still bothers me. begee22

IMHO: Same here---. Always sounds like a reinforcement of the stereotype.

Me either.

You need heavy gold chains and an open collar Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda shorts before you are allowed to use 'Vette, when referring to your car.

I don't wear any of those.

If you don't dress that way, people may think you own a Chevette instead.

Let me guess, you have been on a stay at home order for two weeks and you have the first signs of Cabin Fever.

This reminds me of the tools who get all bent out of shape when you refer to their 55 and up Imperials as Chrysler Imperials. "They are not Chryslers, they are a separate line!" Yeah, sure bud, nice Chrysler...

To each their own. You may call your car whatever you want. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I'd be willing to bet the first use of the term "Vette" happened when the 53's were the current year - or maybe even earlier, at GM. And look at all we'd miss without it - Vette Views magazine, Vette Set was (still is?) a club, Vettes for Vets events, this list would be endless. Plus the moderators would have to vet every post to be sure the dreaded word didn't sneak in.

I'll make you a deal - I promise not to force you to say "Vette" if you don't try to forbid me from saying it. Fair enough?

Default It’s not a vette

That term doesn’t bother me i always wanted to own a corvette, i think vette is ok but when i owned a 55 chevy i always thought the tri-five slang was very corny.....but when someone would say cool five or fifty five that was ok but the tri-5 slang very corny,,,
i just hope we all can get out of the corona thing soon and you can call my car anything you want !!

I have no problem with people calling my car a "Vette".....or "Mustang" for that matter.... However, when people pronounce my Dog's name like "Chevy Chase", as opposed to Chevy the automotive brand, it irritates the hell out of me.

I'd bet the farm that when your were twenty and some hot eighteen-year-old asked for a ride in your "vette" you didn't correct her....

I don't know why but for some reason it reminds me of when Bob Dole used to speak in third person. That kind of wrong.

But then again it could have to do with my E.D.
