Wife commented on me saying the word "Oriental" the other day, I guess the correct word is "Asian" now - at my age I can't keep up...
I was told "roadster" only applied to convertibles with removable side windows (like my '59 MGA) which I had never heard that distinction until a few years ago - missed out again apparently.

I self quarantine in my vette roadster on drives in the country burning lots of fossil fuel as a distraction from sheltering in place due to the Chinese flu.
Thats all the politically incorrect terms I could think of in this context!

At least "Vette" - whether you agree with it or not - has remained unchanged for at least 65 years. When some kid says "Hey, nice Vette!", hopefully even those who don't like the term can put it aside and accept the compliment graciously, instead of lecturing the kid on semantics. Because if you can't, the kid will think of Corvette owners as arrogant snobs and we KNOW that's not true, right?

That's one problem, what is considered acceptable changes, sometimes many times over. They used to call someone "dumb". That became unkind so the more enlightened, scientific term became "retarded". Then that was considered offensive so it became "developmentally challenged". And I think that has now been replaced by something newer.

Don't think I will every find the end of this thread. Better chance understanding my wife. So I finally gave into and decided to help:
I am a Vet that owns a Vette and a 68RS RAG, and a 68 Plain Jane Rag. Sometimes the Vet is a Vietnam Veteran, the Vette is a 66 Corvette, The 68RS RAG is a 68 Camaro RS Convertible, and the 68 PJ RAG is a 68 Camaro Convertible. None of them however are Roadsters. I rarely use the name Chevrolet, it has been Chevy since my first car - 1955 Chevy. They are all treated with car and affection. I temporarily owned a wrecked SHOVEIT that I purchase to fix and flip. My first convertible, 1960, was the RAG. The Impalas, BelAires, El Caminos, Chevelles, Novas, and Vega never really had nick names.
However, I hate 'IMHO' and texting jargon guessing games. Reminds me of children too lazy to spell out words literally create new short cuts everyday. L number are not on my list of worthwhile memorization, of course R66 has no L number and thus is just a Chevy 327.
Came out of K-mart one time and found a guy sitting in the driver's seat of the 68RS RAG. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he stated he owned a Mustang just like mine when he was young. The urge to knock a few years off of his head was difficult to resist.

I don't really care what other people call it... Vette, Corvette, whatever. I've always called them Corvettes. The name is ultra cool and I don't see any reason at all to shorten it or change it.
Say it: Corvette. Say it again. And again. See? It's strong and sexy and makes you (me) feel tingly.
