Vette work in parking lot - old pic from Hemmings
Saw this on Hemmings motor news today. Thought some of you may enjoy it. Looks like a head gasket problem...or new heads...one things is for sure there's a lot to point out.

Pro tip. Lay your head gaskets on hot asphalt. Turn every 15 minutes. Eliminates any need for copper gasket spray.

Burning Brakes
Reminds me of the painful days of my youth working in hot parking lots with no garage - burning knees, hands, etc on that asphalt changing brakes, fuel pumps and the like. I do not miss those times (other than I still had my youth, hair, hearing, eyesight...

It’s taking him so long to finish, he drank so much beer that he outgrew his shirt.

Sort of reminds me of my college days. I once laid in a street gutter in the rain in cold weather, under a 68 Javelin that was pulled up over the curb, to replace the starter solenoid for a room mate. Also did a cam change on my Plymouth Sport Fury in the dorm parking lot in a scene that was a bit tidier than that one in the picture.

I changed a transmission with a tarp draped over the front end of the car and a space heater underneath. Fun memory, bad event. had to have it done before work on Monday.

Is that the steering box and column...???!!!
That, and the crooked grill make me this this is much more serious than a head gasket!
EDIT: Nevermind, it's a bottle jack and handle!

I'm trying to figure out that hood treatment -- the blue portion appears to be a raised section with a portion extending rearward past the rest of the hood and that section covers the cowl vents it seems to me. Something I haven't seen before...
Just makes me wonder if the poor driver is sucking hot engine bay fumes straight down into the cockpit to bake his nether regions...

Somebody received some ported heads to improve times during the next day's qualifying rounds.
It looks like a typical site from the early 1970's on the peremeter of the pits after a Saturday test session. This is what we endured before easy-up's and motorhomes.
