A friend of mine who lives in Germany asked me to check on a 1957 Dodge he was having shipped from the states. The car was shipping from San Francisco and I didn't live far away at the time. I went to the loading dock and there were three warehouses filled with classic cars all going overseas. Every make and model imaginable. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Shipping the car over to Belgium may have been (relatively) cheap, but I think I can pay for a (small) new car with only the import duties and shipping costs of all the parts ordered during the 5 years of body-off restoration.
That being said: the European appeal of US cars - at least in my age group (61) - goes back to our youth. For us kids then , the US was the country where everything was possible: freedom, adventure, money , glamour, 'Mannix' on TV was a high point in my week and watching the landing on the moon at (our) 4 am a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Now that my C2 is ready and pristine, I get a lot of compliments while on the road. Makes me feel good, and a good promo for the US culture too

A place down in Gardena called Schumacher shipping, sends them out here in LA. I used to drive by and shoot pictures of what sat waiting to go, but the sick feeling in my stomach led me to ending my occasional visits, plus some of the people in charge did not appreciate any visitor! I only ever got glimpses of the better cars in the big warehouse, the projects outside were alone mind boggling. My last visit there was an E-type Jag, two 356 Porsche’s, one 914, five insignificant Corvettes, two big block Camaros, and another one with zero drivetrain, one Mid 70 Ferrari, a bunch of VWs, a Triumph, a few Trucks, one army Jeep, etc etc!

For that very reason - it could be a parts donor car for other Packard projects that are hurting...across the water...

Frankie,
I deleted the original post and link because I can't tell if the link is for an actual UK seller or is an actual UK website. One of the problems with the internet. All I see on the domain lookup is .RU - Russia and the ad reads like it was taken from an ebay listing.
It doesn't look like there's any value in that era Packard that could justify any kind of quality restoration.
