Muncie Front Nut Wrench
Can anyone tell me what the nut/spanner size is? I have laser cutting done and was going to get one made with my next order.

Welcome to the Corvette Forum, you might want to show us what you're talking about, I'm having difficulty envisioning what you're referring to.
(When you say spanner, you are referring to a wrench aren't you?)
Good luck... GUSTO

I think Auto Gear Equipment sells the wrench your looking for.

I made one and the flat to flat dimension on the nut is 1-21/32". The problem is the wrench is only 1/8" thick and must be made from hardened steel to not bend when you torque the nut to GM specs. I bent my homemade one before I finally modified it to get the torque. Haven't tried to heat treat it yet.
Might be easier to order from AutoGear. They are good people.

It would probably be easier to just buy one.I got mine MANY years ago from Larry Fischer of D&L Transmission (I don't know where he gets them). http://www.dandltransmission.com/
The wrench I have says VICTORY PERFORMANCE PARTS.

Technically, it is called a gland nut. It retains the front input bearing on the input gear/shaft. The nut is 1-5/8".

Just a thought. If this is a complete rebuild of your transmission, you might want to go the extra step and order a steel mid plate that houses the main output bearing. The OEM plate is aluminum and can be prone to leaking over time. Larry at D & L transmissions carries them and they aren't that much money. Just another preventative step to consider.

Here are the dimensions to my wrench/spanner. This was traced on 8 1/2 x 11" paper on a diagonal.
I use a large Channel-lock plier to remove the nut and the tool to install the new one.

Yep, Left hand threads. Keeps it from backing off when the input shaft turns.
