Default Looking For Lost 1962 Vette

Hey Folks, forgive me if this is the wrong area! I was sent here by some fine folks over on Corvette Reddit.

My late grandfather was the owner of a 1962 Maroon Corvette. It was featured in the 1995 Corvette Paragon Reproduction Parts magazine (Which I have here). It was purchased from a man in New York State, likely Ogdensburg, and then my grandfather owned it in Brantford, Ontario. When he died in the late 1990s my grandmother sold it to a man in Brantford, and then he apparently sold it off to a man in Pennsylvania.

It's at this point where I lost track of the car.

My grandmother recently moved out of their home and into a retirement home and going through her drawers and dressers I found all the original paperwork, including all body work done, repairs, restorations, and oil changes for the 62 'Vette.

I would love to get this to the rightful owner who would likely enjoy having this stuff. It's got repair details and appraisals from all over Ontario and the United States.

The VIN number for the vehicle is 20867S105759 and it was assembled January 23/1962.

Thanks so much for anyone that might know someone who owns this Corvette! Sorry if this is the wrong spot!

Feature in 1995 Paragon Corvette Reproduction Parts Magazine.

Maybe it's a Canadian thing Seems weird that people with links to these classics wouldn't try and keep a connection!

It’s not on the C1 registry but that doesn’t mean it’s not out there somewhere. Hope you find it.

I Would try Barrie Schram in Brantford, I would bet he knows the car.

Good luck,

Tom M

It might be a long shot, but contact Paragon and talk to someone in marketing and they might be able to help. There might be an old contract between Paragon and your grandfather re: the use of his car for their brochure. You never know.

Googling the VIN, it's listed for sale at the link below. I suspect this is a scam site--they probably just got the photos from somewhere else. There is a phone number in the text of the ad though:

http://findclassicars.com/chevrolet/...-hard-top.html

Looking at the background in the photos, there is a place called "Pike & Rose". Further googling says that is in Bethesda, MD (photo on the restaurant's website matches the ad photo).

There is also a truck in the background, "McLaughlin Exotic Car Transport". Looks like they have a website and a Facebook page, so maybe they'd have some information to provide:

http://www.mclaughlinandson.com/new_homepage.html

https://www.facebook.com/McLaughlin-...n-83542367152/

Maybe some of this will help. In any case, good luck!

Doesn't look like a scam site to me, as there are no prices posted. No prices posted means overpriced cars, not underpriced come-ons. In any case, YES, it's a great move to move the paperwork forward with the car. If it were to another private party, I'd give them the paperwork. If to a dealer, I'd SELL it to them!!!

We do in fact have a specific place for your inquiry; unforunately it remains one of the better-kept secrets around here.

Please post your info in the ORPHAN VIN-Stamped parts and documents thread, found in the Sticky section at the top of the page:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...list-here.html

This is where we try to marry up parts and docs with their original vehicles.

I love these threads and the sherlocking (my new verb) abilities of some people. The google-fu is strong in this thread!

Best of luck OP!

Haven’t seen the OP online since posting, so I went ahead and posted his query in the ORPHAN section.
