Seat ideas for our '59
We've been doing some longer cruises with our '59 (200+ miles) and the wife and I are looking for something more comfortable. I could use a tad more legroom, too. Any ideas for us?

Al Knoch makes seats with side bolsters and a deeper seat configuration. $2600 to $3200 for a pair.

My son drove my recently acquired 62 and at 6'1" it's very tight. He loved it, but the brake and clutch pedals make him (and me) bump the steering wheel. I don't see any way to slide the seat back any further or your spine will be hitting the deck lid. Going to a 15" steering wheel and that might help a little.

I put C4 seats in my wife's '62. Used the stock '62 mounting rails and modified the seat backs by cutting off the headrests and widening the tops to fill the space. Very comfortable, hold you in place well, probably do not increase leg room much. Think I paid $60 for the seats, but we did all the modifications and upholstery ourselves.

Al Knoch buys Wise Guy seat frames, then modifies them slightly so that the outside top corner of the seat when finished doesn’t rub against the soft top brackets and put a hole in the upholstery.
You can save money by buying the frames from Wise Guy, getting a welder to modify that outside corner and then having a upholstery stitch them up for you cheaper than what Al charges for them. I have them in my ‘60 and over the stock seats you will find more comfort and certainly more room.
