How does a seller get away not declaring that this is a salvage flood car that was sold at a salvage auction.

Get the vehicle protection plan since it covers receiving undisclosed salvage title, etc. Yeah, right.

Sorry - no - that is not always true - A branded / salvage title can be washed - Again this is how cars from Texas, Katrina, Sandy, and other end up on in private owner hands across the country with clean titles - (This is the industry I work in 
)

Gads! This stuff has been going on for 60 years....even before the powers that be tried to put some regulations in place to identify them. Went with my Dad to many wholesale auctions in the 60s to pick up used cars to sell. You had to constantly be on the look out for 'flood cars'.... I guess that sort of ripoff never gets old with the criminal types...

This VIN is now permanently identified in the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System as a flood vehicle.
NMVTIS is a nationwide database owned by the Department of Justice, and administered by contracted companies.
In states where titles are not issued that information may not appear, but it will appear in any state that issues a title.
All states are required by law to run all VINs through NMVTIS, and to identify any brands associated with that VIN.
In addition, I believe that a CarFax report on this VIN would also disclose this flood information.
The days of easily washing titles to remove brands are over.
Now, if the owner of the car did NOT get an insurance settlement, and sold the car outright, there might be a possibility to wash the information.
But this car was branded as a flood car.
Any potential purchaser of a car should, as a matter of course, run the VIN through a CarFax, and through the NMVTIS.

I go to large auto auctions on the west coast all the time to buy auto's for dealerships. ALWAYS after floods, these cars find their way to these venues. They (vehicles) are never red or yellow lighted always green, meaning no accidents, clear titles, ect. One has to be very careful.....it is not always evident, the nose comes in handy as one can many times smell it. Same goes with buying Canadian vehicles...thank goodness on trucks one can look at idle hours to see if a truck has been sitting in the oil fields running 24/7 to keep workers warm. Have seen many late model trucks selling that have hours on them that match up with a 7-10 year older truck. Also, with the Northern trucks, many times they have a (por 15) type spray in the wheel wells as well as the frame to cover up rust and other messes....buyer beware.

I wonder if one on the cars has the original frame, from the other. I would like to see a pic of the VIN tag on the convertible.

I'll make that more clear in the previous post.
I might add that the other sellers cars are triple crown winners and his are project cars.
