Default starter #

I was wondering if someone here could help me identify a starter that was on my vette.I thought it was off a 68 Camaro but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's a staggered bolt with the copper bar on the frt.The #'s are 1109065 1c27 4.Delco Remi. All the searches I have done just come up "discontinued" superseded by a bunch of newer starter #'s. I've had this starter rebuilt a # of times ,the first time lasted 20yrs but the last couple of rebuilders did a poor job so I put a new starter on. Maybe I could pull a little money out of it to offset the new starter. Thanks in advance,Mike

Go to heritagecenter.com if you are fairly confident it is Camaro and lookup the info for the 68 Camaros.

If it is a high performance starter, it might still bring a decent $$ from a restorer of a Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, etc., but I have several of them and it seems everyone is going LS and trashing the old SB as there is little interest.

The 1109065 starter was used on 1978 and 1979 Corvettes with auto transmissions. With it being dated 1C27 that would be March, 27 of a year ending in 1 (1971, 1981, 1991). Being that the starter part number was not available in 1971 it is likely a replacement from 1981 or was used in other models (not Corvettes) in 1981. Unfortunately not much value.

Best,
Dave

Hi MG66,

My apologies for hijacking the thread but I've been trying, without success, to ID the starter that came with my '69 L71. Can you help?

1108392 0D 28 2 (Apr 28 1970?)

Thanks,
-Doug

Hi Doug,

That is not a production starter. Probably an aftermarket / service replacement. You are right that it is an April 28 date. But again it could be from 1970, 1980, 1990, etc.

Best,
Dave
