Default Midyear Heater Core ID - A/C -vs- non-A/C

The heater core in the pictures was in a box of misc Corvette parts I bought at an estate sale over the weekend. The timing of this purchase is good for me because the heater core in my '67 started leaking a couple of months ago. My initial thought is to take it to a local radiator shop to have it pressure tested and possibly re-cored. All this said, I'd like to ask those of you know C2 heater cores if this is for a car with air conditioning or not. On one end, "64 A" is stamped, on the other is 3000052. I see the vendors sell different heater cores for A/C cars and non-A/C cars. I've looked at the pictures, but can't tell which is which. Any advise about identifying and re-coring/installing as-is would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Possible. I have mine out "66" coupe non A/C and correct number of cores. Only way to find out is to remove from car. When removing take your time. Number of vendors sell the cores.Either way get core pressure tested

That looks like a non-A/C heater core. The A/C heater core appears shorter (more square) than the non-A/C core.

I can say with certainty that the A/C heater core is different than the regular non-A/C heater core. My '65 tanker came out of Florida in 1972, and the PO had disabled the heater system for better A/C cooling performance (pulled the hoses and left the core pipes open). The salt air got to the heater core, and by the time I dug it out of the back row of a used car lot in snow-covered Sharon, PA and restored it, I needed a heater core, and NOBODY had one.

i put a black-bordered ad in "Vette Vues" for the heater core, and got a call from an engineer at Harrison Division of GM - a week later a box showed up containing an "Engineering Sample" A/C heater core dated 1964 (that was 30 years before the Internet). Don't recall specifically what the difference was, but it was definitely unique to the A/C application.

Thanks everyone for helping determine that this heater core is for a non-A/C car.

I took it to a local radiator shop to have it tested. The good new is that it does not leak. The bad news came when I asked what they'd charge to recore it. While they did many back in the day, they said they no longer do it because parts to do it are no longer available to them.

I brought an aftermarket heater core for a non/air coupe. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! The pipes are not correct. All the aftermarket cores are made in Mexico and you will be very unhappy. I will have to have the aftermarket pipes changed at a radiator shop.

Checked with one of the vendors. They list the following:

Heater core for A/C should measure 7 3/4" x 6 3/8" x 2"

Heater core for non A/C should measure 8 3/4" x 6 3/8" x 2 1/2"

I will second ah53's recommendation on caparadiator. Bill has done 2 a/c heater cores for me. He's a real old school car guy. Sets up at the Carlisle car shows
