Finishing up on the door panel prep.

A few tools of the trade.

Looking good Pat. I couldn't stand it anymore & took mine around the block yesterday even though I am not even close to being done putting it together. I made it around once & was going to go again when it started sputtering & I realized I had forgotten to dump in some more gas. I coasted back into the driveway, called it a success & got back to putting it together.

On our 4th try we used aircraft stripper , and my wife masked them I was advised to use the Trim black semi flat paint. Its been about 6 years and everything is holding. After the stripping make sure you soak and wash them with Dawn. Let them dry for a day after you finish the cleaning'
Then apply the masking tape.
Let the paint dry for a few hours , then strip and detail .

Good luck Pat !!!!!!!!!

I just used steel wool with lacquer thinner. It took a little bit of effort, but they did come around.

For the taping, I used 1/8" Pinstriping (detail) tape.

Ready to place the hood onto the car!

I think my wife is happy as the hood has been stored upstairs in our master bedroom. LOL!

Glad you posted that Pat so now I can tell my wife it’s normal to have a hood in the bedroom. Mine is sitting on the bed in the guest room right now.
