Installing front bumpers. Have them pretty darn close, but am somewhat concerned with how close the drivers side light frame comes to the bumper.
When opening or closing the headlights, the front of the light frame comes within 1/8th of an inch to catching the bumper. The passenger has a bit more clearance, but not a lot.
Are they generally this close?
Pat

I see what you mean, but the longer I stare at it the less significant it seems to be, considering that coming from the factory the whole body was often shifted a bit left or right as measured at the rear tires.

Pat,
You could try to place one shim in the front inboard bumper bracket as this will tilt the bumpers down a bit and then snug the other bolts and take a look. That may or may not increase the clearance and will still look good at the gap going across. You could also try a shim front and back on that inboard bracket to lower the complete bumper as the other brackets will allow that movement and see how it looks when you open them.
Tell you the truth, I never paid much attention to that so I can't really say what's typical.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I think I'll try the inboard shim and see what that does. I hate to mess with the radiator support, as the lines on the car are very good. But in reality, it's highly unlikely that lifting the radiator mount 1/4" or so would be noticeable. I may end up doing that too.
Here's a pic when I picked it up. It looks pretty close in this pic too.
Pretty cool to look back on this picture and see the little one car garage/shack that I pulled it out of. It had been in there since the late eighties, or early nineties.

Pat, I had to put two thin washers under the bracket as my bucket hit the bumper. I think my brackets were bent a little. The painter didn’t catch it so it was something else I had to fix.

Unfortunately, I don't think they're anywhere nearly as valuable as the coupes (split window).
I think the same quality restoration on a '63 coupe, that I'm completing on this convertible, would be nearly double the value. I could be wrong, but I'll bet I'm pretty close. The split windows have really taken off!

Front view really looks good. I’d be concerned that shimming or bending the lower bracket would disturb how level they are now. Easy to check/ remove if I’m wrong though. Slight forward gives light clearance without changing level if done carefully.

I definitely don't want that light frame to hit the bumper and cause a chip!

My brother recently sold his ‘63 split window last summer it went for a lot!
Pat, your car looks awesome! I’m a split window fan. My brother took his to the Renton,WA ‘Cruise the Loop’ a few years ago.
I could not believe my brother would sell this! Must have gotten an offer he could not refuse. Had a 327 and a 4 speed. Stops surprisingly well for having drum brakes. It had a carburetor or would have sold for more if it was the FI model.

Ok Guys,
As I'm preparing for the installation of my windshield, and the subsequent stainless pieces, I'm trying to figure the clips. More specifically, the bottom, side stainless pieces.
In the first couple pictures you can see remnants of the old clip.
Then I took a pic of the clip installed on the weather-stripping and how I think the clip is supposed to function.
Does it look like I'm on the right track?
Thanks, Pat
