You guys...
When you sell a car, its gone. I heard a rumor the new owner of my dual quad '61 might sell the 'real deal' 270hp carbs (I painstakingly restored) and intake manifold for several thou and put an Edelbrock on the car. He doesn't care one whit about originality...
I try not to think about it.

This is no longer your car...(ouch) They can sell it for what ever they want its THEIR car...
If you makes 10k 20k off the car you use to own that the owners business...
I think if I ever sell my Corvette. I will NOT want to see it around town that's for sure..
I want it gone and out of my life...

Mike is an agitator. It's what he does. Dinosaurs like him bought their vettes when they were just cars and they improved them however they saw fit. Leaving them original was for sissies. By hanging on to that notion Mike proves he's a real corvette guy. We newcomers to the hobby who had to pay 21st century prices for our 50 yr old cars are idiots. Especially me. We bought collectible cars. Originality is king in collectibles. Mike knows that but he would never consider an old corvette to be a collectible. Corvettes are for modifying and driving. Right Mike?
If you wrote your essay for credit, you flunked because it's not accurate except for one point. I don't own old cars because they are collectible, I own old cars because I like old cars.
Now, why don't you turn your thoughts back to the story at hand instead of talking small mindedly about people.

I don't care what year parts you bolt on, or under, your car; likewise folks should have the decency to not deride my desire to have the same year parts on, or under, my car.
Pretty simple concept really...

you guys act like this is something new when it comes to selling old cars. the OP sold the car for what he was happy the buyer can do what ever he wants and if he wants to flip and make money so he can feed his family so be it. the lying part. that is a different story but it is a part of the USED car market. if anyone has bought a used car you know you were being lied to at one point or anther. Its YOUR job to tell whats a lie and whats truthful. this forum can point out flaws in cars and people (we do it everyday) but its not our job to protect the dumb

Maybe I am more honest than most but if I am sold a car and told it had a replacement frame- and I know that certainly affects many people's decision to buy at one price or another -THEN I decide to sell and leave that out the frame details, that's a deception.
No doubt in my mind.
If I sold my 64 I would absolutely admit it had been hit by a semi. Why not? I have photos of the accident damage, my repair, in detail, and the finished product would be available for inspection at their pleasure.
I wouldnt have to disclose it- there's not "carfax" for our VIN number and my title is clean as a whistle. But I would.

Would you feel differently if the new owner of your car was selling it for $20K less than he had paid you for it? For that matter did the former owner sell the car for more than he had paid for it?

I don't see anywhere in this thread where the OP informed the current seller the car had a '65 frame under it.
Are many of you that are accusing the current seller of fraud jumping to unfounded conclusions or did I miss something?
