Apricot Brandy
I was just looking an an old post about Apricot Brandy a 54 6 cylinder. The thread was talking about a picture in the late 70s I think. In the late 60s Apricot Brandy was raced by Jimmy Joe Elliot. He worked for the local Pontiac dealer which was next to the Sunoco where I worked. If whomever was interested in information of the early years, I may still be able to obtain information from family or maybe another guy who raced 6 cylinders against Jimmy Joe back then who knew Jimmy well.

This has reminded me to make a note to buy the makings and put up a half a gallon for this winter!

Great history in that car. We were parked near it at the Gathering of the Geezers at Kilkare last August.

Does this car have the GMC 292 truck engine? I saw something years ago about a c1 running a 292 and this may be it.

Sorry about the passing of your father.
You might get more / better responses starting a new thread, see forum tools. You might also do a search for 54 Corvette threads to see if you find anything.
Was your father a member of the forum?
You might also PM Indiancreek to see if you get any responses.
Best of Luck

Condolences on the passing of your father. He and his car are an important part of drag racing history. Here are a few more photos I took at Kilkare last year. Hope these bring you some joy.

The 292 was an inch taller than the 235. I used to race one in a modified, I had it close to 400 hp with an 850 dbl pumper and every trick in the book (plus a few).

Not many photos of how the car looked in the late 60s when it was black and called The Stinger. Really successful car throughout its career.I tried to pay tribute to Jimmy Elliott in my book on Corvette drag racing and the great success he had with the car. Here is a picture after his class win at Indy in 68.

Who remembers this car? The Rats Nest
#19
Seeing the picture of Rats Nest kind of makes me think the history of Rats Nest cars is a rats nest. I have corresponded and spoke to a couple of guys that should know the history and I am still not 100% sure of who is on first. Without looking at my notes I believe the car above became the Dan Yastishak Rat's Nest that was successful in the later 70s. I spoke to the present owner of the car a few years ago and I believe he is making it kind of a street version. There was also the early version in purple that ran in New Jersey (Atco) and then the Harvey Keim and Ted Pindjack version. I imagine there is someone that knows the whole story and I for one would like to hear it.

I saw the 1953 Corvette (Rats Nest) at Danny’s speed shop near Centralia Pa. Many years ago. It was white in color with graphics at the time.
He told me that it was VIN# 7. I looked at the door jamb and no VIN tag was present. Years later he died and I was told that someone
in the Reading Pa. Area bought it.
