Irma Coming to Sarasota up or down?
Hello
Irma making a track towards Florida. I'm debating weather or not to jack up car off of ground and pray and hope its enough to keep it from bring flooded??
Questions put it up on jack stands or just leave it alone??
Any thoughts??

Safety Car
I have room for 4-5 cars if anybody needs a temporary storage space. No charge.

From what I have seen here in Houston this week you better get it out of Dodge. No jack stands are going to help you. I have just seen water lines at above mid gauge level and over the cars completely and yes I am talking about straight axles and midyears. Be concerned for sure and be proactive while you have the time.

I hope you guys don't get hit like they did in Texas. But You better hurry and go out and get a backyard buddy lift. Lol Or get the car to higher ground. I was just at Extreem midyears in Sarasota and he's got four or five Corvette in that shop and he's getting the completed cars up on the lift.

If you are on Lido Key or in the Desoto area beat feet with the car for higher ground.

Was right here in Florida 2004-2005, lots of the northern newcomers are in for a shock if this hits... They've only had the sunshine and warmth for the last dozen years. Some of the cracker-box houses built lately won't fare well.
Mine might not either as I'm all South-facing glass across the back, on a lake, with about a 1-1/2 mile 'fetch'...I have a 4 post lift in the garage and have the boat cranked all the way up in the boat house with ratchet straps securing it every which way and the plug out....
But if we get winds over 120mph everything is up for grabs.

Hello
I'm not near the beach. I'm not in a flood zone. I'm weighing my options that's all.
I watching the news Irma going to the east lil bit...
I'm staying here I'm not going anywhere...
Frankie right 120 mph winds nothing going to stay put..

A lot of those people in Houston weren't in a flood zone either.
I live on an island. flooding isn't really an issue. My house is also up on a dune. It would take about 40' of storm surge to start to flood it.
Wind is my worry.
We're watching this real close too. Servicing the generator.
You guys in FLA have been lucky lately. It's nearly annual here.
Good luck.

I'm 12 miles west of Orlando...
If anybody is going to bail there are only two main ways west and north out of the state...wait too long and that'll be a freakin' nightmare...

You can never be too safe when a monster storm heads your way, here is a picture a friend sent me from Houston from last week:

This storm is nothing like Harvey. Harvey stalled for days dumping water all over Houston. This so far is a much faster moving storm and it will be in & out quickly. Major flooding I wouldn't think would be a concern, perhaps to wind damage.

Otherwise jack it up the best you can, and make sure to keep insurance policy with you and secure.
My plan here in New Orleans (if needed) is the 3-4 floor of the main airport parking garage near the middle. Or one of the nearby large hospital parking garages, again, 3-4 stories up and inside middle.
Airport parking may or may not be full of cars, but hospital lot should not be crowded at all during this time.
Perhaps a nearby new car dealer could help for a price $$$$ and store on a lift or an enclosed upper level.
FWIW. Larry
