New C2 Coming - Need Wheel Advice
Hello All,
Almost two years to the day that my son and I took museum delivery of my 16 C7, I have purchased a 64 coupe. Not a numbers matching vehicle but has a 65 L79 motor, correct 64 4spd and 3.70 posi rear end, a 67 big block stinger hood, factory side pipes and 65 power 4 wheel discs. A real clean, solid car which we will enjoy without the worries of maintaining originality.
The previous owner installed torque thrust wheels which I am not a fan of. Being new to the C2 world, I am looking at securing a set of rally wheels and would appreciate some guidance on what size 15" wheel will fit front/back, offset, width, etc... and any reputable suppliers of quality wheels, trim rings and center caps.
Thanks in advance!

Yup. I know. It is a 64 with a lot of 65 upgrades. Brakes, fenders, L79, etc... The guy owned it for 20 years and wanted it more driver friendly. Same thing I was looking for. A solid driver car that runs and stops well.

I know. It made me pause when I first looked at it and saw all of the 65 pieces. The title and VIN match and state it is a 64. Don't know why he did it but I like the upgrades.
Feel free to share any thoughts or concerns you may have.
Thank you kindly.

Glad you found one just the way you want it, on Something out there for every one. Do like the idea of having a "look" but subtle upgrades
OP how tall are you, do you fit ok or feel its cramped
Wheel vintiques andSummit racing sell rallyes and caps, make sure they are hubcentric. Not sure if the rings were tapered in at an angle or more of a flat, 90 deg like the C3s. Do not buy the Pacer brand period I learned the hard way.

I would be more inclined to think there was a V.I.N. and title switch. Possible stolen car in the past that had the tags and title of a totaled car used??

The original '67 rally wheels (which should pose no clearance problems for you) are 15"X6" with 3 1/2" of backspacing. These are not too expensive and shouldn't too difficult to come by. There's probably a couple of sets on the for sale Forum right now. Just be sure that the wheels spin true. It is not uncommon to find a few that have been curb'd and bent in the past.
The '68 rally wheels are 15"X7" with 3 3/4" backspacing. These should also clear on your car. You may find that with the car in the air and rear tires at full 'droop' the ends of the spring get very close to the edge of the rim with these wheels. When the car is on the ground however, you will have more than an inch of clearance.
This '65 has the '68 15"X7" rally wheels on it.
Good luck... GUSTO

Now wheels. I like Torque Thrust wheels but I like the grey centers. Very retro looking.

I don't like the chrome TT, but the classic mag look is much better, IMO....

Thanks for the wheel info. I was looking for specs so that if I ran across some pre-owned, I could measure and see if they would fit.
