[TV] - Speed is the New Black - 1962 Corvette
New episode on June 21 at 9pm on Velocity...
Not for the NCRS purists. Looks like it's going to be a chopped and dropped restomod, which from what I've seen is what this show is about.

Not a fan of restomods, but at least they left the exterior intact. I've seen worse. Puzzling to install 58-60 chrome teeth on a 62.
Hate to see a perfectly good C1 go under the knife, but since it was a base motor powerglide, I suppose a good body made it worth the purchase price. Then add $100,000 for parts labor...
The client came across as an entitled, coddled ***** who has no business owning a classic and wouldn't know a screwdriver from a saw. He said that he might not sell it in two years...

Just once I would like to see someone who is completely disappointed and blows up at these reveals. WTF! I said it supposed to be RED! NOT SILVER! IS THAT A HEMI in my CORVETTE! WTH! Oh wait, thats a FORD in my CHEVY!
You are dead on with the owner. Now, I would rather see a show about the station wagon owner. I bet he has some stories.

What difference does that make? So you now are the guy that decides WHO should own an old car? I worked on my own cars for years but not so much anymore. Regardless I have friends that don't know a thing about DOING mechanical things that are definitely real gearheads. How would you feel if your tax guy referred to YOU as basically a dumb *** because you didn't know how to do your own taxes? We all can't be good at everything.

This last paragraph is so well written, and so on-the-money, it made my day. Thank you. I saw this episode and did not like the customer (who stated matter of factly that old cars can not be driven) or the outcome of that poor car, which was a super clean Roman Red '62 with a fawn interior. It ended up as a cookie-cutter slammed ghetto-wheeled go cart, which fit the clueless and tasteless owner perfectly.

Didn't watch it couldn't bring myself to.
Want to see an unhappy reveal then check out the Foose Overhaulin' episode they did on a hot dog salesman's VW minivan. The guy was NOT happy and Chip knew it too.

There are many things I cannot do well, including advanced auto repair and restoration.
My objection to the client centers around their belief that "old cars cannot be driven" and his arrogant dismissal of earlier technologies. He trades out cars like shirts because he is bored with life and has no passion, understanding or respect.
GTOguy summed it up nicely.
I too, would love to see a show about the station wagon owners adventures in Florida.

X2 on the owner of the '62 Biscayne wagon.....you don't see guys like him anymore....a true 1950's style bigger-than-life character. He could be Zero Mostel's or Rodney Dangerfield's brother. What a hoot.

As for the car ...............well as Michael knows, I love silver and red !
As for the show, yeah the owner, once he drew attention to his 'Mercedes' I knew he was nothing but a 'tool' .............

I happened to notice that the 60's headlight bezels didn't fit properly on the top fender spears. And I completely agree the owner came across as a *****. His wife also came across with a sense of entitlement with too much collagen in her lips and fake *****.

Is this a car forum or a fashion and personality discussion forum??? Why do people have to be so negative about others?

The guy with the Mercedes and the '62 didn't have a wife, at least not on the show.
