Anybody notice they changed exhaust system. Early picture showed a cross inlet style muffler then it had inline mufflers.

I would like to remove my fender spears to polish them. Have you any tips on how to remove and replace with least chance of causing any damage to fender paint, or any other insights you can share?

The problem is that the last two nuts (speed nuts if you have repros, threaded studs on originals) are behind the firewall and between the top side of the cowl bracing and the body. So you will need to remove the kick panels, then figure out a way to access and remove these nuts. I saw a thread on the forum where some say they drilled holes in the brace to access.

What I did was remove the cross brace so I could pull the offending top brace about an inch to the side. It took a lot of body contortions upside down on my back to reach up there to get the two nuts off without breaking the studs. When you put them back on, screwing the nuts back on is equally hard. Like Frankie says, while you are doing this add the 58 fender support bars inside the engine compartment.

It wasn't a real vette body to begin with.

Not for the NCRS purists. Looks like it's going to be a chopped and dropped restomod, which from what I've seen is what this show is about.

it was a replica body not a real c1

The 62 featured on the show started out as an original body non-NCRS Corvette that was then Restomodded.

They did a '65 Mustang Fastback last night - I'll say that the final product was pretty darn nice - not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship. When they first showed the car before any work was done (I'm very familiar with them), I told the wife all the problems I could see with the body/frame/fit which the crew 'discovered' during the course of the show.

Wifey was impressed (which takes a lot).

From what I saw, I think it was a "lesser" one, must have been a good price.
They did mention who's chassis it was, but when I was looking I did not recognize the name

Resto-mods have their place in the Corvette world, and many people like them. I do think they could have found a better "donor" car than a nice, no-hit original. Not a show I will watch again. Just my opinion.

Default Sitting in the "Hack Job"

Im currently sitting in the corvette in question, and I see both sides. Why the 59 "teeth" were haphazardly fitted to the original I'm not sure, why it was converted to an automatic I'm not sure, I have a lot of problems with the car as do many in the conversation. BUT, my father spends his time doing things other than cars and had a poster of a c2 corvette on his wall as a child that his parents said he would never afford. so as much as i agree with the purists out there who were tearing up at the sight of a frankenvette. And in terms of drivability the bi-turbo 6.2 amg far exceeds that of the corvette no questions asked. I will say its more the story of a man making his childhood dreams come true and thats what i try and tell myself when he comes in the door saying the rides to rough, when in my head I'm thinking what are you doing if they dampen it you're ruining the expensive brand new racing suspension, it rides like that for a reason, it gives you feedback and its a beautiful thing, ahhhhh. But again its his dream his money and his car so who am i to tell the man what he can and cannot do.

But the real reason I Joined the thread was to figure out what the actual technical specs are, he won't let me put it on a dyno, and I know what I can see but I'm really not sure how they went about integrating wiring and electronics, for example the speedometer isn't working properly the ac rattles it seems like an unfinished car and not having experience in the c2 world i was wondering how much of this is classic corvette and how much is the people who put it together? any info or suggestions would be great. I'm just scratching my head at some of the choices that were made during the build (like i think the hood doesn't latch properly because of the chopped firewall and possibly front end...?) and am really just looking for info about the car so I can better understand what both parties were thinking.

I'm thinking we need a new default generic reference to the ultra-stock crowd other than "NCRS."

Pretty thrilled to see someone on this Forum who has a connection to the actual car in the show. A '63 SWC owner of this Forum was featured on an episode of "Garage Squad" a few months back. We all see these shows but it's great to see feedback from the participants as we never really get to see the finished product or what happens after the film crew leaves.

Ray (most likely to be a victim of "Overhauling" except that I don't want my bumpers to be 'pulled-in" any closer)
