Default Correct temperature sender for a '67

I put a new engine in my '67 this winter. The temp gauge was correct with my old engine, but that temp sender went out the door with it.
My new sender is around 20 degrees too hot compared to an IR- gun on the upper radiator hose.
Wich sender should I buy to get correct reading?

There has been much posted about your problem over the years. Pretty much it's a crap shoot trying to buy a sender that is close to accurate. I had luck with one from DeWitts after trying four from local Parts store. The following "old" post may be helpful. There's much more written if you do a search. Google seems to give me better results than the forum search. Dave

The senders sold by Paragon are accurate. I have installed three of them and verified the gauge reading against actual with an IR gun.

Are these the K&B produced senders?? They are essentially exact reproductions with the upside down lettering. I believe that is what Paragon now sells.

Even these senders have had some issues (NCRS Tech Board), but may be the best available. The Wells TU-5 and TS6469 available from NAPA have also performed well for many.

Larry

EDIT: NCRS link...........excellent discussion. http://www.ncrs.org/forums/showthrea...rature-Senders C1 and C2 senders are the same.

Paragon says even theirs can be up to 10% off either direction.

Larry,

I am not sure who supplies the senders to Paragon, they sanitize all their packaging and remove any reference to the manufacturer. I also don't recall if the lettering is upside down. Will check when I get a chance.
