Default Confusion on this Delco Remy Part

Hello

I'm not sure what year of starter this solenoid cap goes on?? Does anyone know. I tried to put it on my starter it doesn't fit.

Says on box 1113172 starter???? Says Delco Remy on it also.

Thanks
Pete

I can't find that p/n in any of my Chevy books, so it might be for another GM brand. The cap "fit" appears to be identical to this cap from a 356 solenoid though. What is the number on the solenoid that you need a cap for?
That cap is pre-'62 because it doesn't have the groove for the tang on the cable end (to prevent rotation)

Hello Verne

I have no idea. I know it wont fit my 1963 Corvette starter. I bought it to use it to rebuild it. I have no clue what year starter solenoid this cap goes too.. I don't think its a 60's era starter.

There should be a part number stamped into the can of the solenoid you have.

I can't see enough differences between your cap and the one I posted to guess why it won't fit.

Verne

I just found a reference that lists that part number changed from 1964412 with an application of GMC truck '65-'79

I think that's just the box it came in. I think the 1113172 written on box is this part number...Maybe

1113172 is a starter #. Google that # plus Solenoid and you will get a lot of info
