After a false start yesterday due to a bad starter, this morning the 64 started at the first turn of the key!
If I ever figure out how to post a vid over here, I will.

New fan belt today and trying to figure out why I'm leaking oil around the oil filter. This is a new to me 63 stingray convertible 340 hp, 4 spd. Lots of little issues I'm working my way through.

Yesterday I drove up to the Richmond Corvette Club show at Hertiage Chevrolet. I left the house at 6 am with the heat on. I took Rt 10 up and passed a red 63 vert heading east just west of Smithfield. Huge turnout for the show but mostly C6and C7 cars. A 53 won best in show, there was a nice black 57 and several other C1's. Two resto mod C2's, two big block cars and several other nice C2's where there. I came home with my top up and the a/c going. It was a nice day and Rt 10 is a nice way to get to Richmond from the beach.

Holley rebuilding & column extension
I am rebuilding the Holley .....and for you tall guys, you can get up to 2 1/4 inches of knee room by moving column up in grove as shown. You just have to only loosen 2 bolts under dash, 2 screws holding column to dash. rag bolt holding shaft, do not loosen bearing spring, bolt holding column to firewall, gently pull wheel and column away from dash. You can see distance gained.

That will cause it to leak. You need a pick sometimes to free up the old gasket.

Just out driving around Cape Cod today. Beautiful day. This spot is in Orleans overlooking Eastward Ho Country Club and the ocean. Looks alot like Pebble Beach.

Fun in the garage
I last rebuilt my distb. in 2013. Put new bushings top and bottom, new shaft and assorted bits including tach gear.
That was 4 years and 50,000 miles ago. I may have had a bad shaft to start with in the sense there was a batch of SHP shafts sold at the time with the football welded upside down. It made for interesting timing issues that had to be solved.
Well, my car has been acting up and I thought it was carb...it may still be, but here is what my distributor looks like after 4 yrs and 50,000 miles.
As you can see, the lower bushing is shot. The shaft shows wear only at the lower bushing. The upper bushing has not been effected yet, but it would be next. You can also see the crud in the upper shaft lube ring. Solid crud. My cam plate could hardly move and my VC was not able to advance the timing.
I will replace the shaft and lower bushing, coil wire and clips. The tach gear is perfect .
What lube would you recommend for this area when I put it back together.?
Moral of the story....if your distributor has more than 50,000 miles on it, you should give it an inspection...not fun to have your oil pump gears banging into the sloppy drive shaft gear.

Had some quite time with her ('64 cert) today. Took her cover off, sat on my stool beside her and opened a nice cold Nimbus Brewing Brown Ale. I love just looking at her from time-to-time. Going for a ride as soon as it gets below 100 this evening.

Burning Brakes
Last week I noticed my radiator started leaking so after some trying to seal it I concluded the only way to get it reliable again was to pull the radiator and get it profesionally repaired.
So I pulled the radiator and noticed it was looking a bit more tired than I expected. Brought it to a radiator repair shop and they said it needed a full restoration (still way cheaper than a new de witt). So that's what's being done now and it should get the radiator ready for the next 20 years.
Here some pics of the tired radiator (I know not correct one but a new de witt would cost 1400 dollar once imported).
