Iron head that 61 is killer love the truck too. I'm building a 5 window coupe for a friends wife. A street rod type deal tricked out with a flathead V8. Funny thing is I worked on it everyday for 18 months building the chassis including a C4 reared I had, chopping the top, lots of billet work, and making all 5 windows power and functioning. After I got it running I said it's yours now to finish the body work and for some reason that's where it's stopped. Here's a link to where I posted some of the work. I didn't realize it's been a year since I turned that over to him. Wow.

Looks good
remember you can change your gaps buy shimming the nose up - that will point the rear of the door down and shimming the quarter up will close the gap the top of the door.
once you have it gapped - bolt it down.....
It will change again once you put it on the chassis.

I got my chrome back from Advanced Plating. I can say I am more than pleased. I haven't opened it all but what I have has been perfect, except one place a scratch from shipping on the upper front side of the front bumper. It's small so I will live with it. I could get worse from a rock the first time I drive it. But the quality of their work is great. They had some concerns about my accessory mount I made noting they might not get good coverage in the pockets I machined in it. All in all they plated 31 pieces and I got them all back. A lot of small stuff I was afraid might disappear.
I hope I'm not one of those overly particular corvette guys. I called Advanced about the scratch. I explained that the box was undamaged so this couldn't be blamed on the shipper. It just wasn't protected well enough. The guy said no problem just send it back and we'll redo it. I looked at it quite a bit and on the front upper edge of the front bumper everyone would notice, and of course I would every time I walked around the car. I tried to get a pic but it doesn't show up well on camera. I did explain that I was in no way unhappy and the work was top shelf.

Robert - after going over your post again, I would argue that you are in fact, one of best “overly particular” Corvette guys I know. Like a good friend of mine who is also a machinist - you have to sweat the details, down to .0001”.
I agree with you on shipping back the bumper - you will always see it - and besides, I’m sure they made enough off of all your parts to be able to bring one back to perfection. Your Vette looks great. I’m using your post for inspiration to get back on mine and finish up a lot of details.
Keep us posted.
PS: I ordered a new hood, as my Perfectly repaired old one betrayed me....
Have to re-paint the door jams, the Hardtop and ... well, maybe the whole car.

Accy drive and body line filler
Robert, I drool every time I see a pic of your accy drive... Amazing work! How many people have asked you to make a copy? Where do I sign?
Also in your attached pics was your work in matching headlight trim to fenders. Is that duraglass or a similar filler being used? Thanks!

I made that accessory drive because I am cheap. Vintage Air sells them but not chrome plated. I used Vette Panel adhesive to raise the molding up to the bezels. I did use regular filler to do all the final blend in but for the thicker part I used the VPA. Somewhere here I posted pics of a serpentine system I made for a flathead Ford, A/C pwr steering and alternator, several people said did you patent that you could sell all of that stuff. I said 1. I'm old I don't want to sell stuff. 2. It takes a long time to make that stuff and 3. Just how many people with a flathead would spend that much money. I just did it because I love machining things and people are going to be all over them wanting to know where they bought that stuff. We had it all chromed as well and it looks great. I know Kindig always says the 80s called and they want their billet back. But on the flathead model A I think it looks really good.

I think it looks fantastic! Your build may be slower than you like, but the incremental results are top notch. My impatience is not to hurry you, I simply want to drool over the final product. Keep posting pictures and be really happy with your progress as it is looking great!

If you look through the thread you'll see where I widened the rear bumpers to match the new wide quarter panels. I'm not Kindig or Foose but I pay attention. These are probably my one and only bumper mods I'll ever do. Advanced made them look like I knew what I was doing. There's not a dimple or blemish anywhere. You don't mind paying for stuff when you get exactly what you paid for.

I finally got my Dakota Digital gauges in. I have them in my goat so I was already familiar with their products and quality. I ordered them through Ken Sungela, thanks Ken. This is their new style that looks more like the original. I didn't care for their other version to put it nicely. I was talking with their custom gauge rep last year about converting my original gauges to electronic. He said we have a new set coming out that will look closer to the original. When he told me how much they were I said hmmm they're kinda pricey. I like the fact that you just hook everything up calibrate the speedo and fuel level and you are done.

Yep all pieces are new including bezels. I had my speedo bezel at Plating at the time I ordered these, I had to call and cancel getting it plated. Not that it makes any difference but their bezels aren't cheap castings they are billet pieces that are chrome plated.

I'm way deep in another project right now but I'm waiting on parts so today I decided to tackle my accessory mount. I had everything fitting very nicely before Plating. I even called and asked how much I should allow for Plating to add. When I got it back nothing would come close to fitting not one part. When they plated they added about .035" to everything. Two pieces put together with an extra .035" on each face caused some figment issues. I certainly didn't account for .070" of Plating. I had to remachine several places and grind in a few places where it's unseen. But I finally got it so Kwkenuf here it is finished except some belt alignment on the pulleys. Yeah I know I coulda bought this but what can I say. They don't offer the mount in chrome only the accessories I wanted everything chromed.

3 months in so far and we still haven't closed. 2 months ago they blamed a week long snow storm which I did understand we don't get snow like that. There's a title issue and the attorney is I believe going a quiet title. Whatever it is I'm ready for it to be done. I can't wait to burn some diesel.
