The location of that handle looks like it would be tough on the passengers leg................

You have a good point, but I haven't had a passenger yet.

This already installed when I got the car. I did flip the bracket around so that the handle is not facing forward.

There has got to be a better (less obvious) place to put the FE. Sitting out there like that is a little intimidating. I keep mine under the pass side of the jack board. I am sure I could get at it quickly in an emergency. Maybe on top of the jack board against the back of the luggage stop would be better. I just don't like it out in plain sight. JMO.

I found that the best place on my 66 roadster is on top of and in the center of the jack board. Easily accessible, not visible and not in the way.

It only takes one fire to learn that your FE needs to be readily accessible!

Nope, it doesn't cause any affect on passengers whatsoever.

On my '66, mine lays behind the passenger seat, tucked in just behind the bulkhead lip...I have 2 strips of velcro running the full length of the extinguisher and positioned 90 degrees from each other...This way one is stuck to the floor and the other is stuck to the carpet on the lip just behind the seat. Works great and is definitely going nowhere - it's kind of tough to rip out when even trying! It's tucked in nice and tight, out of sight, but in reach and you don't have to drill new holes.

I have one like that in my '64. So far no one has had a problem with the handle.

Here’s another vote to velcro the bracket to the jack board just behind the bulkhead. Very stable, easy access and removal.
