Tall driver - Coupe or convertible?
Heard the convertible is tighter on interior room than the coupe. Just wondering about leg room for a 6'3" driver ?
Thanks
Thanks

I have a coupe, and I am 6-3". I'm long legged and fit fine. The only issue I have is on long drives. The steering wheel is between my knees and my legs are confined to the outside of the steering wheel, no way for me to stretch my legs in any regards. I actually got a blister on the back of my heal of my gas pedal foot driving to Arizona.
On the way home on the interstate I had an epiphany. I put my right leg in the passenger foot well, and used my left for the throttle.

65,000 miles in the last 5 years was only possible with it

Ps. My son is 6'6" or more . I will eventually move the foot well forward 5"...no battery or AC in the way on drivers side. Once that is done, we will work on pedals. The extra room will allow the legs to lay flat on seat instead of splayed out.

Seat foam has more to do with it then coupe or convertible.

I'm 6'5" and weigh 195#. Our coupe has enough head and leg room for me, but as noted above, long rides can be a killer on my right leg. I usually get a cramp in my lower leg, and I have to stop and walk it out. I can see where cruise control would be an excellent addition. My friend who is my height, but weighs about 300# had trouble getting leg room under the steering wheel. He solved that issue by installing a Flaming River tilt steering wheel.

The comment on the seat "buns" is right.....the more "worn in" they are, the lower and further back you will sit. My '65 was restored in '90....26 years ago. And the seats are still firm and high. I am 6'4" and 240....I fit OK in the Coupe but the big wheel and the limited push back on the seat will result in a bit of a splayed driving position, particularly to shift. I have driven the car on its longest trip of 4 hours (Knoxville to Bowling Green for NCRS event) and that is about as far as I could take it in a day. For me, its not a long distance driver...but then, that is not what I use/want it for. Headroom is tight, but I fit. Like I said....the condition of the seats on each is a big part of "the fit." You will either sit on the seat, or in it.

changing the steering wheel will be a big help
c2's are all pretty tight, I'm 5 11" and it was cramped with the big wheel, I went 1" less on diameter and 2" lees on dish, made a HUGE difference

I use this 15 " for regular driving. You can also move the column torward you almost 2" for extra leg room for shifting.

At 6'2" and 210 lbs with a 36" inseam, I fit better in my 66 coupe than I do in my 70 coupe. I think the old seats are worn out which makes me sit lower.
Headed to a car show 250 miles from here next weekend. Lots of fun getting out on the highway with the 66.

If your height is more above the waist than in the legs, the coupe and soft-topped convertible have about the same headroom. The convertible with hardtop installed has another inch or two.

6'3" with long legs (36" inseam). Don't think headroom will be the problem. If anything leg room will? My personal preference is the coupe!

Im 6,4 and I have a targa top c5. I fit very comfortably. Heads not near the top and not cramped. Getting into the car/falling I not the car is a pain but that comes with the territory. Convertibles are ugly and weigh more

6'4'' 250.
Install a tilt column. [ididit was my choice]
Add power brakes and lower brake pedal,
Adjust clutch down as low as you can stand, make a new snubber for the clutch pedal lowering it as much as you need [I added a 1/2 snubber to existing one]
RESIST moving factory column forward..[steering wheel will hit your knees]
RESIST 14-15 inch steering wheel.. [steering wheel will hit your knees as wheel goes forward, it goes down...it's all on an angle]
Need to get the wheel up...not forward..I can't speak to coupe headroom but I fit fine in a roadster.

Supposedly the 63 and 64 are similar...except I could never get the 63 to give me enough leg room. The 64 was fine.....the worse that might happen to you....get power steering, get a 15" diameter wheel and get a tilt column....all of which can be added aftermarket!
