Knock-offs left me flat then, and do now. Never cared for the look at all. They look like 1980's Vector wheels. They don't look BAD, but they don't look great, either, IMO. Pretty sure about 90% of the general public loves the look, though, and popular isn't a bad thing. All a matter of personal taste, like color preference. Hard to make one of these cars look bad. (OK....judging by recent ebay postings, not that hard!)

And 205-75 tires for me too. 60 series tires on a C2 look like a 17 year old kid owns the car.
Just my opinion.

I have a hard time deciding on wheels as well, over the past couple years I have had 5 combo's on my 65. it came with blackwalls and hubcaps, I put rally's on it, the torque thrusts, then hubcaps and goldlines, and now knock offs and whitewalls...still have the last 4 sets, and each make the car look different.

Does anyone know if there are any wider wheels that will accept the original hubcaps and allow for a little wider tire? I have always wondered!

Wheels are like shoes.....you have to have a few pairs to wear, depending on your mood.

Excellent point, Kerrmudgeon. My take on the large diameter wheels with the super low profile tires is that they work to a point for handling improvement, but they just plain look tacky on classic cars. The whole huge wheel scene came from the drug culture, starting out with "Double Dimes" which was slang for 20" wheels at the time, derived from double dime bag of dope. The wheels were popular with drug dealers and gang banger's in inner cities, as status symbols and symbols of defiance, much like the falling down pants, exposed underwear, and Rap music. It's all derived from thug culture, which is now seen as the new normal in America and is copied by middle class suburbia. Since it's easier to be low-functioning than high-functioning, and it is considered 'cool' to be 'edgy', more and more huge and garish wheels are making their way onto classic cars. Very popular with the under-40 crowd on the GTO forum who simply don't know any better. IMO, these old cars need a tire with some sidewall to it.

1969 Corvette wheels are 8"X15" and require removing the "lip" folded in under each fender...........each corner "may" require a different technique, backspacing, bulge or size of tire. My 67 had different requirements for each fender stock from the factory?????

MIDYEAR and 63CORVETTE,
Thanks for the responses.
63 - Are the modifications you mentioned required on the rear for the 15x8 or just the fronts? If not, theoretically, could you run the 15x7's on the fronts and the 15x8's on the rear to get a little more traction on the rear? Or is that a bad idea?
Regards,
Jon
