These... well, I used to collect guitars, and one day I made the decision to follow a life dream, so I sold these and bought the vette...

I have a buddy that is a huge hot wheels collector. He sold a lot of his collection to buy a 69 vette convertible. I thought that was kind of cool. I sold my 58 to buy my 63 split window. No regrets.

I was 18 when I bought my first new car. It was the first year in Canada for Honda Civics (76) and between my first bank loan and savings I came up with the enormous sum of 3150. Great little car that I flogged the crap out of for a year.
With it all paid off I started getting the itch for a C1 to stable mate my 66. I sold the little Honda for the same as I paid for it the year before (they had increased in price) and bought my 62 for 3300$ Our dollar was worth more than the usa buck so I got it home for around 4K CDN.
Not a bad swap. Somewhere there's a pile of red oxide flakes where that Honda used to be.......

Sold a beautiful 58 Vet (283 with 2-4barrels) to buy my NEW 66. Those days it was unheard of to own two daily drivers. No one really thought about Corvettes as collectible, vintage or timeless styling and durability. Should of kept it.

Like a couple of other guys mentioned, I'm a cash kinda guy, so, didn't need to sell anything to buy the Vette, however I did trade in a 72 Jaguar XJ6 when I got the 64 coupe. Had that Jag for 13 years, and the electrical problems drove me nuts. It was a great looking & riding car though.

Always wanted a new corvette never could come close to affording one
after selling the white one I had bought a 2007 convertible .
Now I ended up with what I started with the SWC and glad I did
someday will pay my house down .
This car has been much more fun to enjoy . Talking about it
driving it ,fixing it ,and just walking around it with friends.
Also look at the increased room for have for the 63 coup vs, the new convertible ,

Bought this in the spring of 1969 for $800...
1965 Dodge Coronet 440. 318 V-8 auto trans.
Sold it in the summer of 1971 for $600 with no regrets for this...
1966 327-300 auto trans.
It cost $1895.
I still have it today.

Sold a built up 1975 Pontiac Trans Am for my first 66 BB coupe. Got the new car bug and sold the 66 to buy a new 2005 Corvette. Figured out that I made a mistake and sold the 85 with 3500 miles and bought my current 66 BB coupe to restore. I like 66 BB coupes. Won't make the mistake a second time.
