Hard to look no matter how much care was put into the build. TC- when I first saw the car I knew you'd like it!

Yes there were alot of butt ugly ones and paint jobs, but this one is actually a lot cooler than most of those. I was very focused on street machines right at the peak of the late 60's and thru the 1970's. You saw hot rodded or custom stuff all of the time (not just Vettes- but everything imaginable! Looking back, it was a fun period, and when I see one of that era, it makes me smile. I am sure this car got some magazine print. I guess i am holding onto those trends in a different way, than most of you! I don't like to lose the uniqueness of the past! I wish I could see a picture of the front, to see if it jogs the memory, to locate an article on this particular car!

At least the number of tail lights goes with the rest of the car. Also, it should have good rear downforce at speed. Otherwise .... but I still hope nobody returns it to Top Flight; it's sort of a period piece that should be in a museum somewhere, just not close to me.

Along with Frankie and TC, I can actually agree that it is a "period piece" of culture and may have more social significance than even monetary value in my mind. Perhaps a better way to describe it is that it doesn't interest me in a "corvette" way, that's too far gone. It's more of a piece of Americana of sorts.

Some apple pie and ice cream as you CB radio your friends! Or go to Pinks for some hot dogs at midnite! I bet a Valet would take the keys and be temporarily confused, but you would find it parked out front (place of honor) when you were done with dinner! It is audacious in this day and age of cookie cutter clone sedans, and you would have to handle extra looks and attention!

If ISIS blew it up, it would be a lost to America!! $hit if one of the back runners in the Presidential campaign went around in it, they would pick up support, but probably not from the Corvette community!

PS you have to have a hot girlfriend, wife, or mistress to pull the total look together!

Default tail Lights to the max

There are times when you just cannot have enough tail lights!

If it has sequential turn signals (5 per side) I'd like to see a video! On emergency flasher, NO ONE would rear-end it as long as the battery held out.

It's on ebay as noted in a previous post. Lots of pictures including the 1970 Hot Rod magazine it was in.

Might be more appealing if it a different color: Red....White.....and Blue and the interior was matched. take out 3/4 of the tail lights.

Back then the '58 Corvettes were considered garish and overdone too.

Tastes change....

Looking at the auction, and more photos of the car, I like it a lot more. Tacky, yes, but very much a reflection of the times. Kind of like a black light Elvis painting on velvet, but on wheels...........

Very, very cool representation of the custom hobby in the 1960's and 70's. Anybody who can't see that is probably under 40 and can't appreciate the 3 Stooges either!

Back in the early 70's a stock 68 L89 was my DD. This purple "thing" would have made me nauseous back then and it does now. I guess I'm never was "cool" or maybe poor taste is timeless.

Default Also i will add, that most of the members here

probably weren't around in the hobby as long as they claim! Also it was a very small percentage of Owners who weren't modifying and customizing!
The good ole NCRS and the new founded magazines of the day- most started in that mid to late 70's era probably saved many cars. But there was a time where all of the Hot Rod magazines and even the Corvette ones sought out the latest wild custom to attract readership and were attempting to upstage their competitor rags! People loved to dream of their own personal custom rides! Make it your own!

The rear end of that car would go perfectly with a driver wearing a D.A. hairdo...................

Actually stuff like that was "cool" back about 1970. I'm not saying I want the car, but as an example of how it used to be, that's well done.
Correct answer. If you saw that in a car show in the late 60s/early 70s you'd have posed beside it to get your girl to take your picture with her Polaroid Land Camera

Also full beard and shoulder-length hair in my case, back in the day.

Default I would naturally test the deep pile sh-ag carpet for

Cocaine residue, prior to purchase!!!

PS and maybe psychodelic hallucinogens!

PS maybe test the mirrors also!
