Default Anyone recognize dealership Weiler Auto Sales Corp.?

I bought a blank key which comes with a leather key holder and reads:

WEILER AUTO SALES CORP.
Chevrolet - - Oldsmobile
SALES and SERVICE
158 FIRST AVE.
Atlantic Highlands, N.J.
Phone Atlantic Highlands 1-0305

I looked on the map and it's a vacant lot. The only mention I've found is in the sponsored section of a 1952 Atlantic Highlands yearbook, a mention in August 7, 1951 and also March 8, 1955 editions of The Morning Herald Uniontown, PA. That's it. Anyone remember this place? The funny part is this set ended up in Hawaii, and is on its way back to New Jersey after many years. My Corvette is from Arizona, so I didn't really buy it for the leather holder, but it got me curious and I thought I'd see if I could find the dealer, which on google maps doesn't appear to exist anymore.

Thanks all. This will be reunited with the family who ran the dealership. Happy Holidays!

Mods, sorry for an old thread being brought back up but thanks to CorvetteForum it worked out great many years later. That’s the power of the forum. You can close and lock the thread if you wish since this is reuniting with the family.

Hello,
That was my grandfather's dealership! John(Jack) Weiler. He also was the Fire Chief. I am not sure the exact year he opened it, but he made it through the great depression. In the late 60's my grandfather came down ILL and couldn't run it anymore. My mother, his only daughter, Dorothy Weiler, sadly had to close it, then rented out the building. I believe the original building burnt down in 2001 or so. It was located in Atlantic Highlands on First street in town. My mother passed away in 2004 in Florida where we all moved to in 1995.

I would love to have that key chain. It has a lot of meaning behind it for our family.

If your ever wanting to give it away or sell it, please give me a call.

I'm so amazed how that key chain has traveled!
And I cannot believe how I came across your question. Hoping you still have it. And hoping you see my response.

Thanks so much
Jackie

You might try and send the original poster a PM. He was last on this Forum in April of this year. It is unlikely that he is checking this Forum very often anymore.

Best of luck

Hello,

Thank you for the reply and advice. I am not able to private message him. My subscription level doesn't include that. I love corvettes but I don't own any. I joined, hoping to find this subscriber.
If you would be willing, could you send him my msge to his private msge, with my phone number. Otherwise, I guess I will pay to subscribe.
Thanks so very much

Jackie

Hi Jackie

Any chance your family had ties to Weiler Chevrolet in Egg Harbor NJ? My coupe was purchased there in 1968.

Jackie I sent him a PM in an effort to have him contact you. I am not very hopeful as he does not have any of his profile information filled out and has not been on here in a while. Maybe he will see the PM I sent.

Hope that it works out for you.
