LED Tailights
I have a 65 convertible, 327. My taillights are very dim and I want to replace them with LED's. Do I need to install a new flasher also? Thanks for your help.

Sometimes....if the remaining lights (parking lights in this case) have enough internal resistance to allow the old mechanical flasher to work you are good to go. Sometimes its not enough so the flasher is inoperative....meaning you'll need an electronic flasher. Many of these items are reversed polarity from what the Corvette terminals require. You can use some short jumpers to 'flip' the wires or buy a small adapter and then things will work just fine!

I've done all four corners with LED lights and an electronic flasher on both of my cars. I like people to know what I'm intending to do from the front or the rear; so brightness counts.
Put a little dielectric grease on the LED socket extensions when you install them and you'll have a setup you won't have to worry about for years....

That is my source as well (the seller is a forum member)....
I used LED lights for my license plate light in both my cars and the map light in the 61 too....they run cooler and keep from turning the plastic lens covers into crispy, brown potato chips due to heat....
Again, ohiovet can fix you up with whatever you need -- LED bulbs, flashers, what-have-you.

I put LED's in both my 61's. The one in the video I only did the rear lights and I used a Standard EFL1 electronic flasher. You can hear it over the exhaust and car noise.
The other car I put the LED's in front and rear and I had to use a different electronic flasher similar to Frankie's.

I think that video brings home what a great safety upgrade these LED lights are. My #1 fear when driving is idiotic, distracted drivers and a low-slung sports car can easily escape attention.
I run the LEDs and pump my brakes when sitting at stop lights when I see some moron zooming up behind me in my rear view mirror

I installed LED on my 61, they only had two bulbs in stock. So, I took those and installed the two on the inboard sockets. I got a neat benefit.
The turn signals are sequential like an old T-Bird ! I just left it like that and get many questions "how did you do that ?"

webelectricproducts STS-2 'juice can' sequential flashers will work for the rear of a C1 just as Devildog's 'unexpected benefit'.... I use them... They also make the brake lights come on sequentially, inboard first then outboard. A little more attention grabbing...

Frankie do they do a continual sequential when the turn signal is on like the T Bird did??

Yes - they are setup for 2 or 3 tail light sequential turn signals....as the instructions state you choose which wire you want to use for the 2 tail light option (our Corvettes).....one wire has a quick delay between the sequencing and the other a longer delay...you choose what you like...

I went this route
It is a direct replacement bulb in LED form. Works great in my 64 RestoMod. They are $19 per bulb times 4 lights at Superbrightleds
Regardless of your choice - it is a great improvement!!!!

I have had a few people return the LED tail lights because I didn't send them the chrome housings. That's why I include the disclaimer.
What the hell do they expect for $ 50 or so???
