There are small businesses that do this. There's one on County Line Road in Warminster PA near where I live.

I purchased a product made by Honestech called VHS to DVD 3.0 Deluxe. I think I paid about $70.00 for it. I haven't used it yet so I can't tell you how good or bad it is. The instructions seemed daunting. Might be better off to pay the $20.00 and have it done.

I have this that I recorded about 50 VHS family tapes to DVD. Now I use it to record live TV directly to DVD. Don't buy used. Do a Google search for VHS to DVD recorder. JP http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...&scy=us&slg=en

Look for a new or used DVD recorder. Hook your VCR to it via RCA cables and play/record buttons. Start it up and walk away.

I'm a "dinosaur" who still uses a camcorder that takes full-size VHS tapes. Friends laugh at me, but - when they buy a modern camcorder that uses "chips" - they give me their old camcorders...because they know that I video-tape ALL Cruises/Shows I attend, then transfer the tapes to DVD...and GIVE them away to anyone who wants them. I use a Magnavox VHS/DVD Recorder and the process is very easy: VHS tape inserted into one side, blank DVD onto a tray on the other side, click a few buttons and (in "real time") the transfer is made. Then I use THAT DVD to make numerous copies on a pc. Takes 6-12 minutes to make each copy. I just made a dozen copies of a Cruise friends 1967 wedding so that she could give them to relatives & friends in attendance. Cost per each runs 23 cents to 34 cents each, depending on what I pay when 100 DVD's are "on sale"; this includes the paper "sleeve" I place each copy in.
Too bad you don't live closer..I'd be happy to help you out.
I don't think it would pay you to BUY any machine...unless the companies that DO this work costs are expensive & you have many to transfer.

That link gets a DVD/VHS player that can record to VHS but not to DVD. It's an easy mistake to make because externally they look alike.

After38Years nice catch. I foolishly referenced the actual Model number on the box. The unit is apparently a DVDR3505/37 Please accept my apology for misleading the forum members. I hope that this link is the correct one. Pictures of the actual box and users manual. JP http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...&slg=EN&scy=US

I have two units that look almost the same (w/wo DVD record) and on more than one occasion, I've gotten into the hookup only to discover that I've put the wrong one on the shelf. Learned from experience!
