Its real tough to resist a 2015 Z06, sorta off topic

If money were no concern, I'd likely have had a new Corvette every year since 1963. But then if money were not a concern, I'd likely have Jay Leno's cars instead of a simple new Corvette. But money is a concern, and I know that in five years that 2015 Z06 will be worth $50,000 less and will NOT be the car all the guys are talking about on the forum. It just isn't worth the cost for me.

It's a blast to drive.
I sold my C5 several years ago and thought my 65 convertible would be the last Vette I'd own as I couldn't get excited about the C6. I really like the improvements made to the C7 and now have coupe sharing space in the garage. It's more of a daily driver for me and the 65 comes out on the weekends.

Of course, if I had the money for an Ecoboost or a BAC Mono, I'd buy a 2015 Z and an Atlantic to play with on the track............and still have a few bucks left over for some parts for my 67.

In any case, I figure a new Z06 would save me almost $200,000.
That is how much more a similarly (approx) performing Mclaren would cost me.

I couldn't be happier with my C7 Z51. Put over 1000 miles since Wednesday. Drove to Sebring Thursday, took the parade lap, drove to Daytona today, took the Speedway tour, back to Sebring tommorrow, home Monday. Probably get in 2000 miles. Couldn't be happier. Wife's home bringing in the bacon. I'm spending it on gas. Life is good!
Feel the need to rub some more rubber off my tires so I may detour on the way home and drive the Tail of the Dragon.

Well, i ordered it.
2016 Z06 coupe, 650 HP, 8 speed automatic, Long Beach red tintcoat, or Addiction red tintcoat, (there seems to some confusion on the color name), dark grey leather interior, stinger stripe, black mirrors, and performance data and video recorder.
Anything else, i want (aero trip stuff), i can get after market for less $$.
I passed on the racing seats and super track suspension package, and most of the electronic crap.
Maybe get it in July or August, as it is from a high volume Z06 dealer in Michigan, having it courtesy delivered to a PHX dealer.
I will take a pic of it, the '61 and '72, when it shows up.
Its only money, i guess. Not much point in being the richest guy in the graveyard.

Done.
Ok, so that's if you are stationed in Arizona. My last registration, I was not, so I feel your pain on the taxes. And although I could have re-registered in Texas for just about $70.00, I couldn't bare to stand the ugly front plate, window registration decal, and inspection decal. F that. I went with Option B. Re-register in Arizona for $1165. Yeah, it's alot of wasted money to pay in contrast to a front plate and two windshield decals, but the Z looks so much cleaner without any of that mess on the front.
Besides that, your taxes will depreciate by 16% each year thereafter.
(It's only money, right?)

I would have a hard time trading even up for one. As soon as it is driven off the dealer's lot the C7 drops in value. The C2 will continue to hold its own or even appreciate. Not that I'm into the hobby for the money but I really don't like buying depreciating assets. To each his (or her) own.
Also, I am not sure I have a desire to drive my '66 at its limits, let alone a C7.

We still have to get the inspection... but they eliminated the inspection sticker on the windshield...only the license tag is now on the windshield.....

I feel nothing for the C7s. Last Saturday I sat in a fellow's 2015 Z06/Z07, started it up, revved it at his behest and it was just another computer on wheels whose value will plummet precipitously in a few years. (the car behind me in the picture). Not where a spare $100K of mine is headed.
I also don't have the desire to drive 120+ mph anymore, do 4 wheel drifts, or, nail 12 second 1/4 mile sprints. Gettin' old I guess.
There were a dozen or maybe more at the St. Aramand's Circle car show in Sarasota. Very soon they will be as ordinary as the C6s and C5s populating the streets.
If you want one, and have the money, then scratch the itch - no problem with that; I'm just not feeling it....
You are getting super car performance at a fraction of what some of the pasta rockets and souped up Volkswagens (some call them Porsches) and other over-priced, over-hyped rides will cost you.

The C7 removed all the issues I had with the C6's. And although I don't like the mismatched rear cover, the rest of the body lines are amazing. Rather than sticking with a generic wedge, the C7 returned to the Coke bottle lines similar to the later C3's The interior, IMO, is a great improvement over the C6 and looks and feels more expensive.
Then of course, the performance of the C7 blows away the C6 and leaves them in the rear mirror, which I suppose is why some hate the taillights, since that's pretty much the most likely view a C6 will have to critique it.
But, hey, to each their own.

Nice! Why not!
I really love the C7's, and could see myself in a C7 Z06. But, it would be hard to push it at 9/10ths at the track given its price. (OK, I'd most likely do it.) I have a C5 for the track, so I should look at putting that back together rather than think about a C7. Maybe in a couple of years LOL.
