Default engine # in the 65 im lookin at

im trying to get this 65 coupe and im still collectin info on it..the engine is a 69 vette 427 stamped 3968512T..i was told it might be a 2 bolt main, any ideas on that? i think the vette has a 370 rear end..this engine will be too radical with the cam and heads that are on it for the rear end i think..someone also mentioned that over heating was a prob. with bb mid years..this engine has never been outta of 2nd gear..it did idle for 1/2 hour without any spikes in temp. any thoughts on this subject?

That car has a lot of changes. Is it a real BB car?

If your looking for a BB driver, 2 bolt is fine.
--------------------------------------------------------------
i think the vette has a 370 rear end..this engine will be too radical with the cam and heads that are on it for the rear end i think..

Why would you think that?
--------------------------------------
someone also mentioned that over heating was a prob. with bb mid years.

Mine runs cool, you just have to get it dialed in.
-----------------------------------------------------------
.this engine has never been outta of 2nd gear.
Any idea why?
------------------------------------------------------

.it did idle for 1/2 hour without any spikes in temp. any thoughts on this subject?

Sounds like it's running cool------

If it was a 396 car, know ahead of time it will cost a fortune to get it back
to orig type cond. 396 vette parts are through the roof.
(not to mention hard to find)
Carb = over a grand, exhaust manifolds, well over a grand,
fuel filter= $250-$300, then there is the ignition $2000-$3000,
Intake, Oh, yea, heads and Block. Get the idea?
Just dont buy it thinking it will be an easy one to make "matching numbers"
But for a driver, cant think of a better way to scare your friends.
If your looking for a fun driver, I think you found it! :D

I just noticed the car has a dual reservoir master cylinder, which I assume is not original. As far as I remember, '65 cars with no power brakes did not have them, and if they did, I think the style was different. It looks more like a '67 or later dual master. If you are into originality, then you might care. If you are into safety and performance, then it is a good upgrade - I have done it myself.

this is acually a pb vette ,but when they change the lines ect. they took of the power brakes and went the duel resevre route without the pb..he didnt think it was needed..it is the same duel master as on my 1980 so it is defienetly newer..
